Pros bikes, tires, wheels, etc.

Where do they go? After one race the tires are going off the bike. But where? After the season, they get the 2011's so what do they do with the 2010s? I know if they win on the bike they will keep it. But if they lose? Privateers and top amatuers who do not get them for free, they just sell them back to the dealer. And goons who have no idea, buy the bikes the rode that hell out of. But as the pros, what do they do? Throw them away? Haha...

I have a good buddy who rode for a Yamaha satellite team in Canada for a couple of years and the factory bikes are not allowed to be sold to the public after use because it is considered a liability and the fact they don't have a vin (vehicle Identification number). The team he was on closed its doors and when he came back down here he asked if he could keep a 250f and 450 for practice bikes and they said no. They destroyed all of the bikes they had. I'm sure the true factory teams here in the U.S. do the same. I know there are places that take tires that are still in decent shape and sharpen all the edges and sell them at a discount price, but I kinda doubt that goes for the factory tires. My guess would be that they just melt them down and reuse the rubber.

I don't really have any idea what they do with em, but I would guess they put them on their practice bikes til they wear them out.

When the pros used to have practice on saturdays a few years ago really all you would have to do is ask if they had any tires they were gonna throw away. The factory teams wouldn't be really into giving them out but some satellite teams would usually give me a lightly used tire.

I always thought that they kept the chassis of the bike, and replaced things like plastics, tires, engine etc.

I remember a few of my buddies who all went to a pro AMA race a few years ago, got some plastics from a couple different pros. I remember them showing me a honda front fender and front numberplate. I'm not 100% sure exactly, but i think it might have been from Kevin Windham on the factory connection honda team.
