Weird computer problem

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Weird computer problem

Post by Phathry25 »

So I've been having some really weird issues with my PC. Idk what to check tbh...

When I wake my computer from sleep mode my monitor never turns on. If I just turn off the computer, then turn it on it fires up just fine.

When I plug in USB devices it doesn't recognize them, or send power to them at all. Tried plugging my phone in to charge it, and nothing, it wasn't detected and it didnt charge. I plug my GoPro in and nothing, doesn't recognize it.

If I turn off or unplug my PSU I have a hell of a time getting my computer to turn back on. I'll turn the PSU back on and the mobo lights up, I'm not getting any errors on the mobo, but it's like the power button isn't working, although it does. It just refuses to turn on.

What do I check first? Do I need a bigger PSU?

Alright well first off. For your usb device problem try finding the proper programs to run them with Ex( use itunes to charge your iphone)

The monitor problem sounds kinda fishy. I am not a hundred percent sure on this, but here i go on the only problems i know of you probably ran a program such as a video game and you changed your screen resolution to a resolution your monitor doesn't run. it happens to mine all the time when i am adjusting the resolution.
or your back light of your monitor is slowly dying out. or your the computer has a bad or dirty connection between the on/off switch or button

also heres a couple of questions

Q. does your computer have a sequence of beeps when it starts up or any type of unusual tone?
Q. how old is the computer?

Still doesn't work if you turn off the monitor and turn it back on?

The computer should still sense it's there though. Have you tried the usb ports on the mobo or just the ones on the front panel?

Still doesn't work after turning the monitor off then back on. I plug all my devices into the mobo, I broke the front ports a while ago. :(

The PSU is 2 to 2-1/2 years old. I'm pretty sure my video cards draws 500 watts, and the PSU is rated at 500 watts. Could this be a remnant of the PSU dieing?

It draws 500 by itself? It might be dieing if that's the case (still have to factor in hd's CPU etc). What GPU do you have?
