decieded to make this post to talk about minecraft, it´s a great game but is kinda difficult to start.

do you guys have a tip?, i really want a compaas and i cant find that red ore, the most valuable material that i´ve found is a little bit of gold (like 3 cubes¬¬)

ok, so apparently i saved in some dungeon a bit away from my home/cave/mountain and i had no clue how to het home ran around for 30 minutes climbing up mountains to try and find my house.. in the end my giant skylight that i have over my main mining shaft saved me sine its quite the lighthouse in the middle of the night on top of what I cleverly named "Mount Serv". without that to guide me i would have been truly lost haha.
anyway here's some screenshots

My working area.. yes those are 7 furnaces.. I need a lot for my food/iron/gold and sometimes glass. I don't like waiting 5 minutes for an entire stack to finish so i just split them up

my storage area, split into catagories so i can find my stuff quickly.

up the ladder you see in pic 3 i have a small area where i grow crops.

the way to greenhouse 1 and mining shaft 1.
green house 1 isn't finished yet, its just a flat piece of grass right now so no pic of that.

mining shaft 1 looking up from the bottom. at the top the giant skylight that saved my ass when i was lost.
in case you are wondering it's so that I can see whether its day or night when I'm mining, so i don't have to go all the way up to see.

and one of the longer hallways at the bottom of my shaft.
what you cant see is the holes that i dig ever 3 or 4 blocks into the mountain to survey for valuable blocks it works pretty well and sometimes you even find some dungeons although those have been pretty scarce in mount serv.


so thats it. basically. there is more including a magma lake along one of the mining hallways, but showing all of that would require way to much pics.

sorry for triple post, but to answer some of your questions that I didnt see before now ..

no you cant set a spawn point yet in alpha.. should be added in the near future I think.

you find redstone dust at the bottom of the world.. along with diamond if you are really lucky. so just make some ladders.. and dig straight down till you reach a dark unbreakable rock.. then start to go sideways... a tip... NEVER dig right above or below yourself.. always dig from the sides so you have a means of getting away fast and not falling into lava or have some drop on top of you.
also place torches at regular intervals.. dont want mobs spawning in your mine

i need help, i want to create some videos with me speaking and with ingame sounds too, but my fraps only records eigther my mic sounds, or my ingame sounds, how can i get both to record?

and i will be posting a video series once i get everything working

fraps should record both to my knowledge. what kind of sound card do you use?

record in game sounds, then watch it in media player and voice over then.

Just bought it, and i'm confused as hell on how to do anything lol. I'm pretty much just walking around and beating up on pigs and sheep in my 8bit wonderland.

How do you pick stuff up? Like blocks to build a man castle!

And does anyone wanna play online with me? just screw around lol

yeh well blocks,if you get them, just walk over them and you will get them, incase your invertory has space...

To Ducky: Go to mic properties and then check the box "Listen to this device" (atleast in Win7). That should run the voice from the mic through speakers, and so it should also get captured with fraps. Maybe

haha, nice to see people from mxs playing it. just bought the game a week ago XD. its fun as hell.

redstone doesnt really come in huge packages so thats why its harder to find, and also because you have to dig down really far.
not really that much you can do with redstone though, except fooling around with it. mining carts are mun funner XD.

you can make mines with tnt around your house.. with switches inside your house

plant TNT underground then lay redstone wires to a switc inside and when a mob walks over the spot flip the switch.. only downside is that there is like a 3 second delay. but it's fun as hell..

you can also make land mines with pressure plates.. mob walks on pressure plate TNT activates and BOOM but you don't really need redstone for that. if you just put a pressure plate directly on TNT it will work also. has to be a wooden pressure plate though.. stone doesn't react to mobs.
