A place to discuss solely autocross and rally racing. My first question is, how hard would autocross be with a front wheel drive car? Like a volkswagen golf? Reason asking is they are wayyyy cheaper than my dream car the subaru wrx. as in, half the price lol.

Remove the front sway bar, stiffen the rear sway bar. This will make the car understeer less.
Upgrade shocks and springs. Coilovers are best on a budget.
Have fun

FWD can be really quick in autocross, but get a dashmounted handbrake kit (like used sometimes in WRC). Helps to have the handbrake right near the steering wheel. I know they use modified Mini's a lot in high end autocross. Might be the go. With a supercharger

and front LSD.

That's nuts! Not sure if I'm the biggest mini fan though. The car would also serve as a daily driver since I'm not completely loaded haha.

I was searching for rally packages the other day and came across this one from Team O'Neil racing via Ford. Now granted, it's on the ford fiesta and I couldn't ever see myself driving that car stock, but for a mild 20k (

) you can get it suited up to be a pretty good entry rally car. Thoughts?

My FWD Saab can really go good in slippery conditions. I've only really hammered on my car in snow, (too scared to get it beat up on dirt), but you can really control a FWD car pretty decent. A little handbrake to get it to start turning, and the throttle really does it all beyond that.

I just drive a front drive like an AWD, stay on the gas and e-brake tight turns or side braking.
