Best bang for your buck in a PC controller?

OK, I'm thinking of getting a PC controller for Chrismast, which ones are going to be the best in quality (i.e. durable and good buttons layout) and relatively cheap? I've used a Logitech one that was modeled after the PS2 controller and I liked it, but I want triggers.

Get a non-microsoft brand xbox 360 controller, you can find them for 15-20 bucks.

Do you just plug it in and go? I kinda think that the Xbox controllers have a funky layout, I'm more used to the Playstation style layout, but the my Sixaxis stuff just doesn't seem to like my PC.

i recomend the microsoft xbox 360 brand actually. i got a non microsoft and it ddnt work. u have to download all these drivers and stuff and then the buttons stick. then after a day of use it stops working at all. i brought it back and got the microsoft brand.

PS style is Logitech. By the pictures I think that it has progressive triggers, though I'm not sure since it doesn't say.

Wireless
Wired

Mine
I didn't need progressive since I use 'X' or '2' for that controller for gas. My triggers are shifting so no need in me splurging. I seem to do just fine without progressive though.

Puma, that's the kind of thing that I was thinking about, it's what I had in the past (cheap knockoff that broke) and I like the button setup.

Do you have any problems with it?

Anybody who uses a controller unlike the 360 and PS3, please chime in.

I have had no problem with it yet. I wanted to use my PS3 but I have a 64-bit and they havent made drivers that were simple to instal so I just went with that.
