New Game Development Studio, 2XL Games, Opens in Phoenix Arizona



A new game studio, called 2XL Games, has been formed in Phoenix, Arizona by former Rainbow Studios Chairman Earl Jarred, Vice Chairman Jeff Padden and fellow Rainbow employees Rick Baltman and Robb Rinard.
"We are very excited about the creation of 2XL Games," says Baltman, former Lead Technology Programmer for Rainbow Studios, who was responsible for the physics engine in all of Rainbow's console games. "We plan to break new ground by integrating graphics, physics and animation in original, creative ways."

"We want to innovate game-play, while making sure the game rocks," said Rinard, the game designer behind the hits Motocross Madness, ATV Offroad Fury, Splashdown and MX Unleashed, "Our new studio gives us a wonderful opportunity to bring our own distinct vision of what a next generation game can be."

"When Rick and Robb worked together with me at Rainbow Studios, they were a great team and were instrumental in creating our best-selling, hit games," said Jarred, who formed Rainbow Studios in 1987 and is considered a pioneer and visionary in the games industry. "These two guys are truly a dynamic duo in the business."

They are the actuall master minds behind MCM1 and MCM2 and they have the talent to make a current gen mx game that would be amazing. Once these guys left Rainbow studios, Rainbows quality for mx games has steadily dropped. The 2xl team could make the game we have always wanted.

its all good my man, just figured id point out the part where I hinted that I wish they would make a mx game for the pc, and that currently they make ipod games.

For sure. baja edge of control was a very cool game. High detail, and excellent graphics. That's the only gaming system game they made. As you said, hope to see them in the moto gaming idustry in the future.
