mxs and it's future????

Post by MXJProductions »

Ok so first off this is probably going to be a stupid question or topic, but I was thinking with this being created by 1 man ( jlv ), if something ever ( god forbid ) to jlv what would happen to this game and it's future. This may be a dumb one but it just struck my mind, was like oh shit what would happen...... :?

this game in 3-4 years now just got better and better
so i would guess it will be everytime more enjoyable
3 years ago i thought this game would be during a wekk because it was boring as... but now it improved alot more cause of the custom content i think if we could keep up like this
this game could become a top MOTOCROSS game in the industry (if i s not already)

And you just totally missed the point..

I don't know what would happen to the MXS. it would be difficult to find someone to pick the project back up. if only because of the fact that it's a motocross simulator. jlv built this from the ground up on his own. someone else working on it could turn out VERY bad. I know I wouldn't want to have the responsibility.

But I guess that is the case with anything that is being done by a 1 man indy developer.

We should all pool together some cash to hire jlv some bodygaurds.. with all those assasins out there. Hired by the big corporations because he's taking all thier customers...

In my eyes, I see something like what Julian Assange is doing with the Thermonuclear Insurance File he has would be a likely option. Put the source code in the hands of 1 highly skilled programmer involved in the community (or not), and put the password in the hands of 1 trusted family member. If something happens to, "the man", then the family member releases the password for the source code to that programmer, who continues the operation...

...overkill? Possibly.

Who knows, maybe in a few years time jlv will be fading away from work on this game, and just release everything to open source modding. By that time though I'd hope everything is near complete in the way of ground shaders, dynamic shadows, and dynamic objects.

I'm sure JLV really appreciates us plotting what to do in case he dies.

You guys are brutal.

we're not planning his murder or anything.

it's a reasonable question, not brutal at all.
I had a neighbor that died overnight, no indication at all.
It could happen to any of us, even jlv.

no disrespect. just a harmless discussion.

I'm sure jlv won't drop out of his chair and die from reading this thread.

Personally, if something were to happen to me I wouldn't be concerned if the game I was working on were going to live on, I'd be concerned if I were to live on.

It's just my opinion.

Well I thought u were kidding but once again u take what I say completely the wrong way. *sigh * here we go again. I'm not wishin, nor saying I wish for him or anyone to die. Ffs get real man why the hell would I want something like that. Weather or not you realize but to some jlv has created quite a legacy for himself. Much like major corps, someone takes over if something happens to its owners. I again will say this for ur liking I do not want anything to happen to jlv. Just wanted to know if there has been any plans or thoughts concerning his creation is all...
