Title kinda says it all really.

Due to an unfortunate eye condition read more here i have to wear contact lenses while im riding and my eyes are very sensitive to dust. i know no matter what there's always going to be a little getting in there. I've tried a few different brands (scott, oakley, smith and dragon) but does anyone have any special tricks or just know of a particular brand that seal well?

Try the Scott Hustle goggle. The frame in adjustable in 4 places to make it fit your face.

I use Oakleys, but somehow there always seems to be a grain of sand or little peice of dirt floating around in them and it bounces up and goes in my eye at the worst time. I keep my goggles clean and cant figure out how those little peices of dirt are getting in, but anyways, I keep using the oakleys because they seem really comfortable to me, so much that I forget they are on my face at times.

Ive had this problem too. I've always use Oakleys or Scotts but never use Scott anymore. Ive had a problem where dust gets in my eye, contacts even have fallen out in mid race (That was an interesting race) and contacts have folded atleast every weekend when I ride. I also have cut my face where the goggles have smashed into me.The foam failed and the frame just went right into my face. So I am thinking about the Hustle goggles to fix atleast the dust and cut face problem. The thing with the contacts I'll just need to ask my eye doctor about.

most of the time the problem isnt the seal or anything. alot of times dirt and grit can get in through the breather vents. so you can try covering them in a decent coat of vaseline when you ride. it'll act much like air filter oil by stopping the dirt but letting fresh air through and by making the foam seal better to the plastic. also, sometimes when you put your goggles on you can knock a little bit of dirt off your helmet or goggles or gloves and they fall right in.

I used to have my own thing with SPYs. I use Oakleys now and I will tell you why. The frame of the spy is almost flat. Which means barely any of the foam is pushing on your face. Dirt can easily slip in on the bottom, but the top holds up good. Also, the foam will diminish faster. So I was literally jumping and seeing dirt float infront of my eyes. I called it quits for SPYs after I finished my North East LL regional last year. I have been using Oakleys since. Oakleys are pretty much the best set of goggles you can buy IMO. They are super round so they stay sealed on your face. The foam also lasts a lot longer then the SPYs.

Here are some tips to keep the dirt out of your goggles.

1. Always keep the goggles in the goggle bag on race day. Riding to the starting line with goggles resting on the handlebars actually picks up more dirt then you would think. Don't take your goggles out of the bag until your are on the starting line and going to put them on. For practice days, try to keep the goggles in the bag, or keep something like a helmet bag over top of them. This also keeps a lot of dust out.

2. Clean the lenses very frequently. When I prep for a race, I like to do my goggles the night before. I will take the lense out of the frame and throughly was the entire lense. Try to get as much dirt on the edge of the lense off, because some of that will slip inside and float around infront of your face. Making sure that the lense is absolutely spotless is key. But a small warning. NEVER clean your goggles with water before a race. They make the lense look like it is laminated and your vision will in the lense will be 'shape-shifty'. So if your going to use water, do it the night before. Also be sure to clean the entire slot that the lense is supposed to fit into. That takes a lot of the dirt out.

3. I don't think this is a big help, but varsol on the foam. I hear a lot of the pros are doing this and it seems to be working. But most of the time varsol isn't handy. The trick is to put varsol on the top and bottom of the foam and on the foam that allows ventilation inside the frame. Because a lot of dirt will like to slip in through the vents. The con will be dealing with the heat on hot days. Putting them on the sides also helps.

Thats my suggestion with goggles. I have a few more tips but can't seem to remember them right now.

Scott Hustle goggles, I used to have Oakleys and dirt got in them, I used to have one contact fall out during a few races on the last lap haha, I've never had a problem with the Scotts, you can adjust them to your face nicely.

Well i can say i use scotts though i tape all the foam up with black electrical tape, as i dont ever notice wind coming in. Next i use the NOSE piece, i found that i get dirt in my goggles from being roosted in the face (sounds wrong for some reason ). So i basically tape all the foam up, use the nose piece and basically keep it out of the dust untill needed. Also it helps pulling yoour goggle strap tighter to make the fit snugger to reduce the amount of dirt able to come up from the bottom..

Go to a local dealer and ask him to make a costum made goggle.
It costs a bit more but at least you don't have to go to the hospital because your eyeballs are all red and almost bleeding.

I use oakley proven goggles and never had a problem with dirt getting in

Also the best model of Oakleys to use are the Mayhems.

Try a bunch of different brands on and get the ones that fits your face the best.

It's just like with helmets.. Some fit different head shapes better than others.
