I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Right fork.

Anyone got an idea why there is missing an adjuster for the compression damping?

Well, since it screws in, my wild guess is that it loosened up, and fell out. You haven't been riding like that for two years. The damping rod is in the lower half of your fork, where the oil goes, you can see inside the chamber is still clean while the rest of your bike is filthy. Meaning the missing nut on the bottom has fallen out recently, along with all the oil inside the damping rod.

Good news is the missing nut is only $126.

It's not "just" a nut but the whole damper cartridge, that's why it costs so much.

i assume he removed the cartridge himself. itd be kinda hard for the cartridge to lift itself out of the top of the fork without him noticing. lol

Top? It's precisly on the underside in inverted forks. And if it's anything like the cartridge in kawis, then it's gone with the adjust nut.

Like this.
Left side of that cartridge is the face that shows on the bottom of the forks. Like what you can see in OP's first pic where the nut/cartridge is still on.

your looking at like a 500$ fix... i blame it on bad maintenance and lack of checking parts regularly. sucks but everyone experiences it, i ripped my hub in half because of sprocket bolts.

yeah, i misunderstood what you said. i thought you meant the damping rod and cartridge tube that goes into the top of the fork.

The only thing i notice while driving is that it is bottoming out real easy, and it was that what made me want to make it harder compression damping. And it was when i did that i saw this.
