I agree with that. I also agree that track makers should get some money, also the modelers who made some sick bikes everyone use now.

a sort of license with a very small amount that every rider would have to pay before a season start, would be nice. But maybe hard to put on.. anyway i doubt anyone would not pay 10$ for a year of racing, and that would make more money than the 60$ some guys paid.

Also for JLV, every one would pay 10/20$ for a "major" update every year. :)

Wheels I ran a qualifying session in 06 just now and it hasn't posted in qualifying time on the website yet... Something wrong or is it just being slow?

Please do. iRacing is made by professionals. I think JLV is very very talented at what he does but I honestly wouldn't put him as a "professional". Tell me, how much money do you make once you are the fastest mxsim player in the game? Oh yeah, $0 (unless you count the very few that got all their prizes from last year). Once you become a "pro" in iRacing, you are making your money back. And if you become a "Pro DWC" or whatever, you are making butt loads of money if you are able to do good. The reason iRacing is able to charge so much for what they are selling is because if you dedicate yourself to it, you will be making your money back. Only if you take the time of course. With Mx Sim, you don't make any money as a "top pro" rider.
I was more getting at the fact of the money people spend for that game, when at the same time people say "it's only a game blah blah I'm not spending money". What is a fee of $60 dollars to race or get a track early, when you spend $10 per car (I think? not sure), or $400+ on a wheel setup, or $2k plus on a computer worthy of it, etc etc.
This is why iRacing is so expensive. Watch the whole thing, You'll understand then.

That much is put into one track and one model. Quite the deal if you ask me. As for setup, you can buy a $30 wheel and a $300 laptop and still have as much fun or ever more fun as people with $10k setups. I've seen pros with the crappiest wheel and monitor setups and they're 10x faster than anyone else. The pros in that game win $10k per championship, plus money from sponsors. Ray Alfalla (The Tysen of iRacing) got $40k in total from one championship. He's a two time champion. paid for college and a racecar with it. Thats one driver who won almost two years ago. Games grow. Need I say more? When it says iRacing SIMULATIONS, it is a TRUE simulation. So don't get me started.

personally i would be willing to buy a $10 RF license each year. If that helped RF keep going it would be more than worth it IMO. But I wouldn't spend a nickel on buying a fucking track that is going to be released like less than a week later...

Dear rF Nationals Competitors -

If my tracks are a 7.5/10; this joke has to atleast be an 8.5/10. I would like to thank the JAG team, Doug Oakley, Jay, and the rest of the posters in this thread for helping me prove a point.

If you haven't caught on yet, no one actually has the Lakewood beta, well, no one on JAG does and no one outside the normal rF group. No one actually paid money for a beta, and no, I won't actually be selling track betas... atleast not for the rF national series. Though my wallet may suffer, atleast my integrity and this community won't.

I just hope that this is a lesson learned on WHY it's a bad idea to introduce selling content to MX Sim.... atleast right now with the current setup. It could easily get out of hand. O'Hagen, nice try to jump on a bandwagon full of haters, but guess what, your ONLY argument just got cleaned out by a semi truck.

Those of you saying you WOULD or SHOULD donate for tracks/events/etc., why not do so? If you enjoy the content and feel it has value, give something.

And I'm sure there will be conspiracy theorists that will pop up and think I'm joking about joking, so here is exactly how the "evidence" was created:

A) I took a screenshot with Scott's new JAG bike with some random gear/helmet on the new Lakewood being sure to show much of the track and the new semi's down below.
B) Scott took my new Booneville2014 track, renamed a copy of the folder to 2014.Lakewood.yadda.yadda and put on Byron's server, then Doug "attempted" to join so he could get a screenshot.
C) Doug practiced his acting career by joining a channel with DDavis and Hunter Root; two known to care and spread things like this like wildfire. It worked...
D) Jesse with a little help from "Developer Tools" edited his paypal screen to take a shot that appeared a transaction went through.
E) Everyone started firing shots blindly without taking a minute to think or investigate. Jay helped the cause by staging a fake argument with me in the thread.

I might not make any money from beta's, but many, many, many laughs were had and I once again was reminded that those JAG tryhard douches aren't actually tryhard douches like some try to make them out to be. I won't lie, I would love to make a few dollars for my time on these tracks, even considered it, but the negatives to the community and the racing aren't worth it. If you enjoy my tracks, or perhaps got a good laugh outta this forum fun, a link to donate to my paypal is below.

End of story book, until next time, back to working on Thunder Valley!

KTM57 wrote:Maybe I should rephrase and clarify. Selling stuff for MXS in particular is a bad idea because the success of the game is built on free and open content creation and distribution. I understand that it's artwork and that game development is a career, but you're going to create more stink than the payday is worth when you sell stuff for this game.
As much as I hate to admit this, I 100% agree with this.

I do think as Phat said, if a proper marketplace linking content to UID was created, there would be a place for some premium paid content.
