Open Cup Class Penalties:

• Devin Davis was disqualified from Main Event #3 due to missing the Joker Lane and cutting the course with intent to take out Alexis Leclair. Devin admitted that his cut through the Joker Lane was going to be in an attempt to take Leclair out.

While i already openly said that i think Devin's actions were pretty immature, wasn't there explicit rules around skipping the joker lane? If the rules of the event say that the person should be docked 5 positions, then that's the penalty that Devin should get.

Please Note: Failure to abide by these rules (depending on severity of infractions) will result in penalties ranging from docking positions to docking laps to disqualification and immediate removal from the event. All money paid will be forfeited in the case of a disqualification.

• Open Cup Class riders MUST USE THE JOKER LANE ONLY ONE TIME PER MAIN EVENT. Failure to do so will result in a five position penalty.

Rules are for enforcement and so people understand up front before racing and so that everyone agrees to the same terms. I don't think its right that Devin was DQ'd because of this. Sure, he may of had certain intentions, but he didn't actually do anything other than skip the joker lane.

Well technically he did use the joker lane but went straight through it which would be faster than taking the real track, therefore he cut the track with intention of punting.

Devin had ill intent. And confessed to it. There is a big difference from forgetting to take the joker and continuing on the regular course versus blitzing through the start straight.

No problem. I was just playing devil advocate here to make sure you were thinking clearly on the decision.

I totally support your decision in giving the DQ, as ultimately it's up to the race organizers to hand out penalties as they see fit. I wouldn't want this kind of behavior in future racing, and I do think penalizing sets a small example.

Thanks for letting me race the LCQ since the power outtage. Just wish people could go in a straight line off the start and that kasey wouldn't rage put me into the bales first turn after it.

I was asking why Smith received the same punishment as me when he didn't do anything wrong. I accepted my penalty, not sure why you're furthering the issue, Shack..

I probably didn't even gain time, I was going pretty slow into the joker lane, but got on the gas after the bales. You guys are imagining that I went 5th wide from the start to the 2nd corner

Technically, Smith was given 89 as a DNS for the last moto. He was not penalized for anything, just simply missed the last race.
