Re: Skinning help
John, quit. Help someone instead of telling them to google it. I would help with norms, but I all do is go to PS, make what I make, Filter> 3D> Generate Normal Map. It hasn't let me down yet. As for specs, I take the diffuse layer, then turn the opacity down to about 10 or 15. Works fine everytime I've tried

I see you're getting angry, but when something that simple as to google "MX SIMULATOR NORMAL MAP TUTORIAL", I have no sympathy. That is the first thing you should google. Before I ask anymore questions, I make sure to google it. People did it to me. It was such an easy google search, and it comes with 3 videos, so all he has to do is sit back and watch a video. He didn't even look, so I have no sympathy.DBRider251 wrote:John, quit. Help someone instead of telling them to google it. Re: Skinning help
This is not how you get liked in the community. Your name is known because you're a smart ass to everyone. Yeah, he didn't google it. But the guy didn't make 13214 topics on how to do it either. One topic, asking for help. That's most of the new people in the community. Have SOME sympathy because not everyone is as big of a genius as youJohn23 wrote:I see you're getting angry, but when something that simple as to google "MX SIMULATOR NORMAL MAP TUTORIAL", I have no sympathy. Only about 1000 topics, and that includes replies, help, and giving props, so your number is a little off.DBRider251 wrote:This is not how you get liked in the community. I have also learned to not ask anything in this community until you look for it yourself. Not saying I'm a genius, just helping him out, so he doesn't ask questions all the time. There is never a 100% answer for exactly what you want. I learned by taking what I learned from other YouTube videos (had nothing to do with sim) and integrated it into PS and sim. I watched Blender tutorials that had nothing to do with sim. Nothing whatsoever, but I took what I learned from those videos, and applied those in sim renders. He doesn't even need to do that. There's tutorials for sim. If he wants to learn JM naming, look here. If he wants normal map tutorials for sim, look here. If he wants spec map tutorials for sim, look here. If he wants to learn rendering for sim, look here. Hell, if he wants bike skinning tutorials for sim, look here. There are tutorials dedicated for mx simulator, so there is no excuse...I learned that a while ago, and now I learn most of the things on my own, and I'm doing pretty damn good.
My Shoei and Oakley helmet... Do you think there was a tutorial on "How to remove goggles from one helmet model, move them to another model, export UV layout, align things up, make JMs, spec, and normal maps, and make them work in game" on YouTube? No. I had to learn how to edit, and delete things from a model. I had to learn how to align things in Blender. Had to learn how to combine the 2 pieces together. Had to learn to make a new UV Map. Had to learn how to export the UV map. Had to learn how to align the goggles up from one model onto a new UV map. Had to learn how to export JMs. Had to learn how to name JMs. Had to learn how to make things work in-game. All of those things were learned at different times and had nothing to do with sim. I had to watch a lot of different videos, and take what I learned and implement it into what I was doing. Was it the best model? Hell no, but it was my first model ever, and I'm getting better.
Just trying to help him out by telling him not to ask questions when the answers are a quick and simple Google search away. Now, if he already did watch the videos and read the forum posts, and tried to do skinning, mapping, JM naming, etc, and showed us that he tried, and then asked for more help, I would be all over helping him, but I don't think he even tried to look. I asked for help without doing a single bit of searching and just got hammered with people being smart-asses, so I took their advice and learned.
Sorry if it's a lot, but just helping you out. Now if you try and then don't understand it, PM me, and I'll help you out.
Thanks for reading my rant *breathing hard*
