Upcoming Models #2

Those plugins are super old. Try switching to the xNormal filters.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
I know but they worked up until like a month ago and I don't like the xNormal ones as much. I don't know why but the Nvidia one gets better results and it saves your settings unlike the xNormal ones.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
I think xNormal is the best program to bake normals in. And it saves my settings?

I'm just talking about the photoshop plugin not the standalone baking program.Andy_Hack wrote:I think xNormal is the best program to bake normals in. And it saves my settings?

xNormal Photoshop plugins save my settings too. Can't speak on the quality between the two as I havent used the Nvidia stuff for several years, but I do like the additional xNormal filters.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
I remember my nvidia plugin used to crash pretty often sometimes. That was with CS5 though.
Re: Upcoming Models #2
Its a bit more work, but I suggest trying this method once.
Make a plane that is the size of your uv, apply a diffuse texture to it of your wireframe, model in highpoly the piece you were normally going to draw in photoshop. Bake to plane.
I did this with my fox gear, and if I'm not mistaken Benjii did this with his Fox boots, you end up with some pretty awesome results. It's a bit more work but if you really enjoy good reaults no matter the time, I would advise trying it. You also get some really nice bakes for shadows and shading as well. Pretty much elimination any free hand work in photoshop.
