Doesn't every bit help? Just because someone donates $5 instead of $20 doesn't mean they are less grateful. I'll gladly donate $10, but there are lot of other things I can do with $20.

Doesn't matter what you do really cause people will share. The only thing you can do which is highly unlikely is laid out terms and conditions in a contract lol. I don't see how to cover your ass otherwise and it would suck to see a game get to that point. Just set up a donation and see what happens.

Re: Kickstarter? Poll & Thoughts
Forsure it does and I see your point. So you think no incentives would be better and let people just pledge what they feel is best for them? I guess I just wanted to give those who are generous and able enough to pledge a good amount something a little extra for giving a little extra you know? But I see your point exactly, thanks for the input.
Matt it's not being sold. A kickstart is basically that, donations. I set a project, set a goal to be raised, and once the goal is raised I follow through with my project in which the community funded to be released. There is no set price, no conditions, everyone will get everything all in one release. Sucks there will be ones who don't pledge a thing and still get it but I guess they will just have to thank those generous and able enough who do.

Re: Kickstarter? Poll & Thoughts
An idea could be to slowly make small releases the more that gets pledged.
For example: (prices are just an example!)
$20 - just the stock release
$30 - custom skins pack
$40 - base template
$50 - aftermarket stuff/full template
Something along those lines could work, I would say it's mostly up to you though

Re: Kickstarter? Poll & Thoughts
Well of course in the end it'll be up to me anyways but I like to hear different ideas and opinions.
I like that idea but the only problem is that would have to be like a privately setup donations thing like Paypal, kickstarter only works if you meet the goal set, and if it is not met no money is charged/no money is given.
I do like the progressive releasing though, kinda gives everyone a test on what it'll look like and if they would even want to invest up to the template.

Re: Kickstarter? Poll & Thoughts
I was looking around and a few sites.
Kickstarter (obviouisly) - All or nothing funding, you don't get charged unless the end goal is met. What happens if you pledge money but you don't have the money to pledge when the goal is finally met? I would also have to decide what it would mean if the goal was never met in the time limit I provide.
Indiegogo - From what I quickly scanned over similar to kickstarter, but you are charged instantly and isn't a all or nothing deal. So even if the goal isn't ment donations are still sent. This could risky but also good.
- What happens if the first goal where to come up something ridiculous like $10 short? I know I wouldn't make it a big deal and still follow suit with my promised release but would someone else do that if it were them? And would you trust them to do that?
- Could have progressive goals as Brady pointed out
- You don't have to wait wondering if you will be charged
Go Fund Me is similar to Indiegogo as well.
I personally like kickstarter the best, just because there is less risk. Maybe the end goal would be source file release but if the goal is not met no source file? But if there is a show of support as Brady said, lets say for example the goal is $100 and for a stock release I want to see a pledge of atleast $10, I then release the stock pack (scrammed of course) at $10, but even if the goal isn't ment and I get no money there is still content for free it's just in a pack?

Re: Kickstarter? Poll & Thoughts
I do like the idea of a kickstarter, however I'm not very familiar with the payment, all vs nothing etc. Since you've put in probably a million hours into this, you're worth to get paid for it, my stand point. I think 1000$ is a good 'price' or 'goal'. If I had a job, I could put in 50$ no problem, but now I am a broke collage student so I don't have any extra money to spend really. I'd say almost half (?) of the people playing mxs is 18 or below, and that group of people is often very active, but not very big when it comes to spend money. My thought regarding pledges was something like:
-10$ Gift 1
-25$ Gift 2
-50$ Gift 3
-100$ Gift 4
And the "gifts" should of course be something, a special skin, or anything really. To avoid that those people spreads their gift, give them the gift after the kickstarter/fundraiser/indiegogo/whatever is finished. Than if they share it, it's not fun but at least it wasn't preventing you from reaching your goal. As some people suggested before me, I also like the system: 100$ model + stock skin, 350$ skin pack, 700$ template, 1000$ everything (source-files, skins, aftermarket, template, all?). I think it's a fair system, as long as you get your money. Can't say that I feel really good about supporting this idea with paying, knowing that I probably won't have any money to contribute with. Anyways I think it's a fair system, creator that have put in countless hours get's paid and the more people want things, the more you pay, the more you get. Fair and square to me.
To all designers/modelers, mad respect to you, I know it's time consuming. I'm really thankful for you all for releasing stuff no matter you get paid or not. 1000$ won't be close to what you could get if you were hired by someone, so hat off to you guys.

If its a group thing to then have a release, you'll get the faggots who wait for the money to be raised and not give anything.

Are you drunk? Cant tell if your being serious or not.
$1,000 doesnt even compare to the months I have in the bike, there is a reason there are few good complete models and only a few were made by one person.

Want money? Go get a job, want people to pay for models in a 40 dollar game? Go somewhere else.
People freaked out when attacker wanted like 100 bucks.
And on another note the only well made bikes in the game are by P2sta and DJ. Everything else way too high poly.

As I have stated before with you, please know what you are talking about before you spew your normal bullshit.supercross711 wrote:Want money? Go get a job, want people to pay for models in a 40 dollar game? Go somewhere else.

I have a job. Giving models away for free to shitheads is not one of them.
