I want to make a video tutorial that covers the basics of modelling and skinning for MXS. It's not meant to teach you how to use Blender and Photoshop, but more guide you and give tips to how to improve the look in MXS.
This includes the following
Modelling (Manipulation of vertices, adding materials)
Unwrapping
Baking (Normal map, Ambient Occlusion)
Exporting the model
Texturing (Texture, Normal Map, Spec Map)
Demonstration of the final product in game
So, what should I make as an example? I don't want it to be overly complicated, just something that will cover all that is mentioned above. I don't care if it's a bike part or a model for a track. Obviously I want whatever I make to be useful when it's done.
is blender free? and are there different versions? can you direct me in that direction right now, so i can start playing around to get use to it. ive used sketch up before... is it like that?
how about some barrels or something, start off easy? id like to see some one make a low poly barrel and puch the limit on the normal map and specular
and about track making what i hate about some tracks are the tree's always same shap and exact same color, how about you make a tut about how to get a good looking forest in mxs?
Maybe do one bike part and some simple object too. Unless its too much? If it is then thats understandable. I'd personally like to see a bike part. Theres definantly not enough bike modellers around here. And if you can model a bike surely you can figure out a track object.
