Blender problem

Post by stevoktm »

I've recently started using blender again and i am having a problem when unwrapping simple objects, whenever i unwrap the object it stretches the sides for some reason even though i have added seams. pictures below
As you can see in the picture the cylinder has been scaled on the x axis so it is not uniform anymore, however when i unwrap the object the top piece is still a perfect cylinder and the sides have been stretched out to fit the UV grid. I have tried messing about with the constrain to image bounds check box but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try "Conformal" instead of "Angle Based" in the unwrap options.

What i did in the end to fix it was to go back to object mode, press "CTRL + a" and then select scale and rotation. I then went back into edit mode and using face select i clicked "A" to select the whole object and then i clicked "u" for unwrap and then changed it to conformal as you said, then it worked correctly.

Thanks for the help.
