At school I have to do a subject called ‘Research Project’ and basically we get to choose to research anything we want. For my research topic I came up with ‘Modelling the 6D motocross Helmet for MX Simulator’. I chose this because I have wanted to model something for MX Sim but never got around to learning how to. Research Project was the perfect way for me to learn how to model and involve it in with my schoolwork. I had to submit my folio, an outcome and an evaluation of my research. As my outcome I have chosen to model the helmet in Blender and release it as a resource to you guys, so you can fix it up, scale it properly, unwrap it, texture it and put it in game.
After two interviews and lots of secondary research I have found out how to comfortably use Blender at a basic level. I then modeled a die and an AFL ball to get used to Blender then I modeled the helmet when I was really confident in what I was doing. The helmet took me about 20 hours and I am proud of what is looks like. I didn’t care about the poly count but I am sure it won’t crash your computer haha.
Thanks to P2sta for his Shoei, which i used as a base
