New to skinning and wanting to get started

Post by Smokecheck »

Okay fellas,

I have Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, Milkshape3D..... and the templates. Problem is..... I dont know what everything is in the helmet templates, both stock and Fox V3. I really want to start getting into the fun, can someone please help me? Also, for Milkshape3D do I need anything else to unwrap/wrap the textures? It has been forever since I have done anything like this. Thank you for the help.

Yeah, I thought you would have gotten the jist that no one wants you here Jman. EDIT: Yeah, and what JLV said

Just experiment with the texture to see what goes where.

Okay.... I am starting to get the hang of it, but it would be nice to have a coach. Just for tips and tricks to the art of skinning the right way.

just ask some questions then

you have to be sort of specific

you cant just say "I need some tips" and expect to get anything useful!

Id like to know how to make the graphics and skin come to life, and look more realistic. Where do you guys find the logos and such for the bike decals? How do you manage the highlights and shadows? And how do you preview the skin without going into the game everytime..... like in blender? Do I need the stock bike models also? And where can I get the updated models if I do? Also..... where can I find the models that people have released that are not on the puremxs site? Thanks a ton for the help...... and I know I have a lot of questions, but you gotta start somwhere.

www.brandsoftheworld.com for logos

I would not worry too much about highlights and shadows. Highlights are handled with specular mapping, shadows with normal mapping.

I dont preview - I just go in game.

Thanks man,so the mapping for highlights and shadows is model related? All the skin needs to be is design?
