Try taking away polys where they're not needed for the geometry and for keeping a shape.
Not 100% accurate, but just for you to get a better understanding what i mean:
I'd also try to make a rounder edge, there's a simple, but effective way to achieve a nicer look and the normals can be used more efficient.
Without the model, it's a bit hard to explain it however.
