Sketchup isn't good for making models for mxs, I think mace did it before and had a hard time with it after getting it into blender/max.

Gear is the same way as the bike, you just don't have to do anything with alpha (and the helmet is a separate object).

sketchup sucks if you want to keep your polygons counted, the problem is that if you make a box, sketchup will fill it with a quad inside, dont know if i explain myself.

so, you'll have to open it on max and select all the inner faces and delete em manually.
then select all the vertex and select weld, if you deleted all of the inner faces it should weld al the verts :)

(hint)
in viewport you can select x view and in xview you can select open edges, that way you'll have an idea of where to search :)
good luck!

Just so you know you don't put models into a .saf. You make it into separate .jm files then saf them to protect them, at least I think that's what the .saf is for...

.saf are just encrypted files. but at the same time they are used to archive stuff.
thats why tracks are only 1 .saf file. while in reality a track consist of a whole bunch of files. you can realese a track just fine without a saf file. so in theory you can release all parts of a bike in a whole bunch of seperate files. but who wants that when there are neat .saf files :)

so just figure out what files MXS requires to use your model (and perhaps skins). collect those files. and saf them all together with the .saf file creator and you're done :)

I thought so, because if you look at it, its just a list of whatever is inside. There is no protective coding...
