first skin question?

Post by m121c »

Alright, I just got the game no more than 5 days ago, and I thought I could try to make my own first skin for myself. I thought maybe I could skin a basic design on the shioe helmet template that gio released. But I have some questions. (1.)If I want to have a smooth line all the way up and over the helmet does it need to be curved? (2.) If I want my name to be on the back of the helmet do I have to actually make the letters myself? or use some other .psd? or do I use the text feature? Hope thats not to many questions.

I have also attached a picture just so you can get a idea of what im trying to say. And if you could leave some tips that would be helpful. Thanks.

Helmets are actually a bad place to start skinning, go try with a bike, maybe even a gear, those will be easier with you.

Anyways as an answer to your questions, #1 I'm not sure, but I think they should be curved yeah, anyways you can just put that image you have posted here on your game and see wether your lines are straight or not.

#2 It depends, you can download some cool fonts from the internet, apply them to your photoshop and just put them on, or you can make your own letters with the pen tool ( in case you don't know which one that is, on the picture you posted, going from up to down, it's the 7th tool, just under the little line.

I recommend you keep trying and trying, watching different tutorials ( there is a tutorials thread here on the forums somewhere around, use the search button. ) and trying different tools, filters, combinations, etc...

Good luck!

Just play with photoshop... learn what shit does, save it, test it in the game, try to figure out why it looks like shit, learn more shit, and so on... That's how you get better!
