SX series suggestions

Post by Phathry25 »

First of all I would like to say thank you to JLV and Shack for running this series. For the first try at running this type of thing things went off really, really well tonight. I doubt anyone can complain about how well the show was ran. There were a few things I thought could be done better, or that need to be changed in the game to take this series to the next level.
  • Close entry to the server just before the first heat.
  • Limit ping to under 300
  • Limit the number of characters you can use in your name
  • Hide the chat and notifications for people who are racing. Leave chat open for spectators, or people who have finished.
  • Add the race info to the multiplayer menu. List the laps/number of riders for heats/lcq/final.
  • Display a race "entry" list. Who is on the starting line/what number.
  • Display player names either above the rider, or when the camera is focused on them.
  • BLUE FLAG!!!! Or some other method of letting a rider know he is about to be lapped. You really have no idea who is coming up on you out there. A standings overlay would be KICKASS!!!
I don't know what is possible and or easy enough to add for you. But this is just a list of a few things I came up with while watching the racing. Once again you guys did an awesome job running the show, especially considering how uncooperative some people in the chat room were. Everyone is really looking forward to next week and the rest of the series!

Some of those things are harder than others to do.

I def think close the server up after heat 1 starts...

I think disable chat while racing is going on, (except for admins because they can say things like, move over you are being lapped)

Not trying to be too sarcastic here but seriously think about making a "short quiz" on the rules/schedule and so on that people must pass to be able to race or dl the track or something...

I look forward to next week where I should be more of a contender (I hope!) with my new desktop computer (which I can't use right now due to no internet (besides wifi))

Funnest online race i've been a part of so far!

Close the server to people entering the race, but not to spectators

Awesome Race guys!

I know I said it a few times in the race but I think we need an LCQ to get into the LCQ

From heats:
1,2 Riders go to main
3,4 Riders go to LCQ
5,6 Riders go to LLCQ or LCQ for the LCQ

Then from the LLCQ 2 riders go into the LCQ

I know a lot of people were taken out at the beginning and had no chance to catch up to the top 4. The top 6 gives people more of a chance

How long did the show run tonight? Does it need to be any longer?

Yeah it went for a while. But there was a bit of confusion. Im sure next week will go much smoother as most people will know what is happening

The lcq is the LAST CHANCE. I've seen plenty of fast guys in real life not make the night show because of bad luck. Does the name Trey Canard ring a bell? Sometimes you just need to take your losses and move on to next week. It's tough out there, and consistency pays off.

I'll try to do most of this stuff, but I'm behind schedule for Phoenix. Once I get one round ahead of schedule I'll be able to start on that stuff.

It's more unfair to all of us that have solid connections when someone is lagging and takes you out/warps all over. Like you said, you can do 250, and you're probably the furthest away from the server. So why is it unfair to expect people to be able to produce a sub 300 ping? 300 was just a number I threw out there, but a ping limit should be in place, IMO.

Your just excluding users by thier location, its wrong and just because you got 2nd last in an LCQ?

You're an idiot if you think that has anything to do with a ping limit? I sat on the track for a lap...how didn't I get last? Whats sad is I was the one getting ran all over the track, I did one thing just to let him know I was pissed, it didn't effect the outcome of the race at all, and now 6 hours later you guys are still whining about it. I'm over it, let it go already. Go outside, its summer for you kids...

Sorry guys, that take out thing is all on me. I just watched the demos.

In the heat I was having trouble with a guy, but it wasn't adfk or w/e. After the race adfk said "man I was really dirty with you" I was like no crap and just figured he knew what he was talking about. I only have the KTM, Yamaha, and DDMXV2 rider models, and a few quality skins installed, so pretty much everyone looked the same to me, I just went off what he said. So sorry again, at least what I did didn't effect the outcome of the race anyways.

Regardless the ping suggestion has NOTHING to do with those events. I see it all over the place in other games. It's not excluding people by location as you suggested. Don't you both live in the same area? You can keep your ping reasonable, why wouldn't he be able to? I don't have a clue what his ping was, or usually is, I never checked because that's not where the suggestion came from.
