i wish there were a better way to deal with demo's.

Just had an online race i'd like to have the demo for, but the next race started before i could get out to watch the demo...now it's gone forever... (right?)

Yeah it's gone. I've been meaning to do something about that. Probably something like /savedemo in the chat screen.

Unless someone else go it.But I know that's now what you ment. So,I would have to agree with you.I think it would be best just to have a button to save the demos, like they do in L(live)F(for)S(speed) and with screenshots in this game.

Kind regards.

alright, so ive been thinking about this lately and think it would bring the game to a whole new level. On a motorcross/supercross track, when enough dirt gets moved it looks lighter, different texture, and is deeper than non-riden parts of the track. I understand that there is 1 plane for the terrain map. The question would be could you make that a multi layered setup where the top layer "basic layer" will have the groomed dirt texture, and as you ride (in erode) the top layer slowly erodes away displaying the underlayer which would be a different decal (lets say blue grove). And to adjust the depth of the under layer it would be a y-coordinate. All because sand is alot deeper than clay. Also have the top layer have a more fluid watery motion. if you watch some vids on vurbmoto, theres one of the british series or something like that and they show this nasty rut. when the bikes hit they dont stand up (like some in game), but they push the rut slightly back every time. And for the editor, in order to do this, would be best to work with 2 layers so you can decal the different layers separately. I dont have any game design experience so i dont even know if this is possible or not, but its a suggestion...

and also jlv, in the next snapshot can u turn the shadow updater back on for creating ruts? its a wicked hastle to do 4-8 laps, not know where your lines are, update the map, save it, and continue on...

thanks,

iceman

It's 64 lines. I really thought this would only be a bit more than a one liner.

Anyways, I tested it on Ekswanabee. Turned out pretty good, but there is definitely way too many decals there. I think the best bet would be to start a fresh AI line file.

Thanks a bunch JLV!
Had to search for this again, is it something worth doing? I think it would be easier to do certain things for when you add the decals/textures for a track. I'm going to test it on one of the stock tracks after I delete the existing ailines files and see what happens.

Ok I can't even figure out how to run it, I tried <lines_expert (the script and the line file is in the same directory) but nothing happened, I can't paste things in the window either.

I used that script to put down the packed dirt decal for Atlanta. I thought it worked pretty well.

Not sure why it didn't work for you, but here's the documentation from Microsoft on command redirection. It should just be "linestodecals.py <lines_expert >newdecals".

I got it to work now, thanks :D. Just have to mess with what decal it uses, seems pretty cool though.

The only problem with it, was the ridiculous amount of decals it uses, and sharp corners

It'd be cool if we could adjuest the model geometric detail for bike/rider ONLY, and have a separate one for track objects.
Also one for your bike/rider and another one for ai/other people

I have a suggestion for the keyboard-racing ones. Like me.

While in a corner or after crash there should be a button like Shift that if you hold it down your acceleration slows like throttlecontrol so you won't do a 360 when you try to get your speed back, happens me alot.
I've learned a bit to just throttle it out and go wide but it's really annoying when you in a flat corner tries to get a little speed out of the corner and you just wi-wi-wi-wi-woouu... wi-wi-wi-wi-wooouuuuu.. (crash twice)
So if you hold shift (or any prefered button) your speedup or acceleration goes to 1 to 10 in steps, not 1 to 10 in a millisecond. And a setting you can change so it starts in 3 or 4 maybe.

And i really wish you would create Tearoffs :D i've read about it here and that would be really superawesome!
This game also needs new sound. Maybe you could upload a tutorial how to change the sound so people could edit and maybe come up with better sound?

I'm only riding demo cause i have a tied budget so im not sure if my suggestions' not in the full game, sorry if so turns out to be.

Now i'm gonna learn to whip! Happy racing!

Since i couldnt edit my last reply, i'll just add this.

The thought i had about acceleration-in-steps there should be the same thing about steering, so that you wont lay down your bike for having too much direct steering/lean limit even though its perfectly adjusted for ruts/curbs (?).

spanks.
