A little quote from Racer X's Racerhead:
Speaking of Mike Alessi, I mentioned that $500 fine. The AMA rulebook explicitly states that riders must line up straight behind the starting gate, but Mike moved his motorcycle over a bit as the 30-second board was up. He ended up with a great start, beaten to the first turn by only one rider: little brother Jeff Alessi! Jeff earned $1,500 for the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot bonus; Mike lost $500 for the illegal start.
JLV, can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have it so that people can not turn their bikes in the gate. The only thing it can possibly do is create carnage, which it does more often than you think. It turns out it's against AMA rules as well, which I was not aware of before. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: bikes turning in the gate
Well, if you move the bike more that 3 feet (correct me if I´m wrong) at the starting gate, you´ll get a 15 sec penalty (only online), but yeah pretty good idea, just that if the bikes moves a little bit when it spawns, it makes it hard to ha less than that ..

Check out this demo, this was the second race in a row this idiot did the exact same thing. Ask Brina about this issue, I specifically remember her being screwed over by exactly this in a national last year. I can't imagine this would be difficult as far as coding, and I just can't understand why it is being allowed to continue. JLV, will you please at least just take a second to weigh in on this and let me know what you're thinking about it.

Re: bikes turning in the gate
In the beginning it was nice to have the flexibility of moving around before the gate dropped. I'll add the angle to the penalty check. Not sure how I'll get the $500 fine out of people.

Re: bikes turning in the gate
Can this be limited to multiplayer?
I'm already being annoyed a fair bit by the slowed back up speed at the start when I'm editing a track's tileinfo or similar stuff where I need to do restarts quite often.

Those who possess strength have also known adversity.

Re: bikes turning in the gate
I'd just add it as an extra condition for the 15 second penalty.
