different gate selection process

Post by barrington314 »

i really dont have a clue on how this could or should work, but for the rF races i think it would be cool if we could go in order and pick gates and see where everyone has picked and available gates to choose from. sure it would take more time to get the races going, but would be a cool feature IMO.
would be really cool if it could go in order of qualifying order and let you slide your rider left and right on the gate to choose a slot. and for everyone to be able to see those gates being taken. do this for the warm up lap. and as you pick your gate, you can then take off and do your warm up. and then when it gets restarted for the race, it someone remembers where those riders where. of course you would need a time limit on the riders choice for the people that are away or whatever for an auto pick or auto last pick for not showing up (like ama)

The order of gate selection already goes by qualifying times (for the first moto at least). It's just not a stated thing; the priority is there but the game won't tell you if you're going to get the gate or not.

it would be cool but even with a short time limit of 5-7 seconds it would take a bit for a 40 man gate to get going.

Wasnt there something like this in MVA untamed or something?

right, so if 5 people try to get gate 7, how do you know where youll end up? its a simulation. to me there should be a more in depth system. even if its just for the main rF series races. how does iracing work? i know starting grid is obviously just qualifying order, but dont they get to choose pit box position in pit lane?

honestly, an extra 5 minutes wouldnt be a big deal to me for a feature like this. especially when we spent longer than that watching people play around before the races started lastnight. so IMO, for the nationals atleast, theres plenty of time.

for supercross, for example, what if heat 2 could choose their gates while heat 1 is on the line? then lites lcq chooses gates while SX heat 2 is going. SX lcq chooses while lites lcq is going on. and so on.

Barrington, remember back to when you first started playing, being called a noob, and generally not having a clue about even the simplest of things. Just imagine an even more complex gate selection process being a part of that....

if they dont select a gate when its their turn, its their loss. = auto last gate pick.

i still feel like a noob on some stuff. especially setup. and JLV add even more to it.

Welp, it is possible currently, but it would take some time to work out.

Basically, I have a possible solution, but it requires people to use the rf website, rather than the server. I don't really know how well it would auto update for people on slower connections, but I suppose it is probably possible.

That would be sick Wheels! I've tried to pick my gate for every race I've entered (knowing my gate selection would not be so well and picking a higher number) to no avail. It would be nice to see available gate choices and choose the one you want, I'd really like that actually :)

Even when youre a noob you still know how to use server, gate #

i did my first 1-2 days on the game. If you dont. tough luck.

It would be good for an ingame system aside from rF's, i'd give people ~7 seconds to pick a gate moving left and right with the arrows/analog stick. If you dont move, or dont make it to your gate, thats the gate you stay on.
