Look at like this. You've put a month and half, if not more, work into this really crazy awesome drawing. You let someone color it and they just scribble outside the lines. Does that help you understand.

like you said its their models so they can do with it what they want but they could always just release a stock bike skin on the model and no template. I feel the same way though, if I spent countless hours on something like a bike model i'd release it for everyone.

Sorry for the double post, but what ever happened to andy hack's model getting released? i thought it was gonna go public. i dont really care a ton about a template. i mean if they would release that too its great but im not great at skinning anyways so i dont release skins

so its an ego issue?
Probably.

If it's a high quality model it should have nothing less than high quality skins.

Some guys on certain teams help out and do work for the one modeling.. allowing for them to have access to the model. Whether it be public or not comes down to the creator, it is nothing about be in the in crowd or however you want to put it.

in some cases, yes this is true and cool.

This
no, that still makes no sense to me. but thats your guys opinion and thats fine, but this is mine.. i would still know that my drawing is really crazy awesome, as would most of the rest of the community. id shake my head and likely say something rude and be an asshole like i normally do and move on.
theres more to it than this anyways. i had a team sponsor lined up that is a current big graphics company, and is potentially even going to sponsor the sx series for sim. and was going to do the skin for myself and the team, and i still got denied. so its not about releasing "shit". its about favorites and who can kiss the most ass.

anyways, the point of this thread wasnt to argue why they should or shouldnt release their templates. it was to find out if they were going to or not so that i could have a bike modeled that will have them.

I don't think being a good skinner who is asked to do skins, by the creator of an amazing model in which he is about to release, kissing ass.. but think of it how you want. I'd recommend getting on a team that has access to some of these models f you want them so bad..

Being a really good skinner helps but it is to an extent a friends thing.
Odds are if your a good skinner you'll probably be a modelers friend anyway.

Right Rage time.

Barrington, im going to be straight as an arrow with you, I modeled 4 bikes for this game, dj modeled a couple, andy is working hard on one, and there are others aswell... What have you done?

We spend our time making something, we decide what we want to do with it!

This isn't an open debate, where we are just the labors and the community decides what to do with us, we decide what we do!

DJD wrote:.but I can see why creators wouldn't want every noob on the forum slapping some cut and paste shitty graphics on their

model and starting some lame team that will last a couple weeks and dissolve. Idk, that's the only reason I can think of. That and teams like to be cooler than everyone else,

cause that's the only point of a team.
ive never understood this tho. like so what? is it hurting anyone? not to my knowledge. if you dont like someones shit cut and paste, then dont download it. pretty simple IMO. i guess my i wouldnt understand, as im not the one making the models. so sorry for that. just my opinion from the outside looking in.
DJD is 100% right, example, my ktm. A skrew up, why, because 90% of the skins are complete shit, It makes the model look bad, and it makes the creator look bad. My model and my work, is my pride and joy, and not for some goon to skrew up! Its unfortunate because there are some good creators out there that do skin properly, but unfortunately the only way i can know who to trust, is by judging the ones in my friends ring, so, tuff!

DDavis:
You cant understand why we do not release it?

It has absolutely nothing to do with you why we have exclusive teams, its deals we have with people and teams, our business.

Im really sorry that the kawi was "OVERDUE" for you, maybe you should threaten Andy with his job, you know?

Just to give some perspective...

A freelance modeler, not my level, but still, would charge an avarage of 55 USD and hour for this type of work. I have more than 150 hours in 3ds max on the suzuki alone.

55 x 150 = 8250USD

You pay = 0???

Take a hike!

I'm willing to donate money to run the model for my team before it's released to the public (As long as it's a reasonable amount).
