I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

pc specs

Post by karlwb »

my current pc isn't up to online racing on user tracks,it's an amd athlon 3200 around 2.2ghz,1.5 gig of ram, nvidia 7800gs agp 256mb,so i'll be looking for something better soon

i've got the chance of a friends pc cheap in a month or so,specs are something like amd 64 chipset (dual core)around 3ghz,2 gig of ram, nvidia 8700 512mb,i'm guessing thats no longer agp,but pci?

is a 3ghz cpu enough to have reasonable framerates online, or should i look to go better?

3 is pretty good, plus it's dual core so it's even better. I have a AMD Phenom 64-bit that's Tri-core at 2.10Ghz each, it works really well so far.

garenteed, you are running tight on both video memory and system memory when you play MXS.

My system at idle uses about 700mb of memory..... on some tracks i've seen MXS use almost 1GB of memory!

That video card is a little weak as well. When i first started playing MXS i had the 8800gt (i think this is what you mean) and it ran the game absolutely fine. I have a GTX260 right now.

Your processor is pretty weak. My 5 year old laptop has that processor and its so much slower processing things than my desktop pc is.

I have a 8800GT now, how do you like the 260? The 300 is being worked on now. I was thinking of just getting a heat sink for mine, I can get temps up to 180* F sometimes (might get a new cpu heat sink as well).
