Re: Whats your pc?
Do you not think that an FX6300 is a better option so that you can get at least 8 gigs of RAM? Do you have an OS factored into the price?

Re: Whats your pc?
No I didn't really consider anything AMD. I might be a little bit of an intel guy haha. Also No I didn't factor in OS but I told him he would half to add an extra hundred or so to it to account for an OS. Now that you did mention it I might look into going the AMD route even though I am not a fan a lot of times AMD is cheaper than Intel/Nvidia Correct?

Re: Whats your pc?
Much cheaper. An FX6300 is around $120 and performs just about as well as an i5.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an i3's strength is its hyperthreading, which MXS doesn't support.

Yeah thats a really good point. Most games in general don't support hyperthreading and all he wants to play is Sim. So I will probably go with amd.KTM57 wrote:Much cheaper. An FX6300 is around $120 and performs just about as well as an i5.

I don't know about that. If all he's playing is sim, I'd go Intel over amd. Intel owns single core performance. Why go for 6 ehh cores over two great ones for a game that runs off one? I think that looks solid enough the way it is.

With that budget, its almost better to buy a pre-built and get a graphics card in my opinion.

Re: Whats your pc?
JK but really... don't go intel if you're on a "budget." Yet I can't say anything is technologically wrong with my intel build, I would rather go AMD right now because of price/performance. 650ti is a bad idea as well, just trash that

Re: Whats your pc?
I never realized how hard it is to build a pc on a $500 budget. I guess because my first build I spent like 1600 lol.

Re: Whats your pc?
I think the AMD APU could be a good sub $500 option if you don't go cheap on the RAM. Get an A10 and some GSkill 2133's or so I think it could run things like that pretty fine. Then you could always get the Crossfire option with it and get a single slot card, can't think of what it actually pairs with off the top of my head but you can do it.

Re: Whats your pc?
Well, my PC is complete and done. Windows was a bitch and a half to get installed and I could have sworn that each disc/ key got 3 activation's before it expired but its only 1 so now here I am. Do I reinstall everything and hate life for the few benefits W8/8.1 or do I stay with W7? I'd like to stay W7 because my laptop that is W8 has not convinced me of anything except that OS is the devil but I'm open minded for another opinions. TS is installing btw, soon enough.
Related note and I know I've seen this before. I did back up some things before wiping my SSD so I still have my personal/Program folder with sim but when I try to install 1.8 the "Next" option is greyed out when selecting the destination folder.

Re: Whats your pc?
So for Matt's build I think I decided on a FX6300 like August suggested and for Gpu I think i'm gonna do a 7770.

Re: Whats your pc?
Go for a 7850 1gb atleast if you can. Much more power then the 7770 for a little more.

Re: Whats your pc?
I was gonna go for a 7850 for him but he is only gonna play sim. So I thought why not get a 7770 2GB instead of just a 1GB 7850 since sim uses a good bit of graphics memory with skins and stuff.

Re: Whats your pc?
I can say that recently going from 1gb to 3, its pretty necessary, especially online. My 560 did great on all but vram, so I'd go 7770 on this one.aaronr5 wrote:I was gonna go for a 7850 for him but he is only gonna play sim.
