I personally would not go gmc. Not for hauling. One of my best friends runs a heavy haul/ hot shot company and they used to have all gm products in their fleet. Key word is used to. The 2014 cummins seem to be the way to go from what I have been hearing.

My dad has a 01' GMC that has been through 9-10 snow storms, and one being the storm the NE had that knocked out power for a week. The beast has never stopped running once.

They are very good trucks. Just not for hauling. I am speaking from Canadian winters and oilfield hauling though.
