I have a specific thing Im trying to work out on a 450. 2013 RMZ to be specific. For me its the easiest to ride and keep the front end down as well as keep the back end from spitting out coming out of corners.
But, Im trying to get the front end to stay planted better out of turns when I get all the way on the throttle. With that said, what should I be adjusting? Does it need to be more firm in back or softer? Whats going to be the main adjustment to make, compression damping or rebound or spring rate?
I am using Stolky's setup at the moment as it does great on this bike.
450 setup help/question.

Re: 450 setup help/question.
The front end is pushing out and you can change it with a few things, so you will have to play around. I would make your forks a few clicks softer. If they are too stiff then that can cause them to slide out. The higher you have your shock preload ( i think) the higher up your back end sits, and that puts more weight on your forks as well. So maybe lower that if the fork clicks do not help. It can be as simple as rider mass distribution as well.

That helps but Im mainly having trouble coming out of the berm with keeping the front end down. I wheelie too easily in other words. Ive lowered the mass to .39 which has helped but not near as much as Im needing. Even staying forward while rolling on it on some tracks I just loop out almost instantly.

The wheeling depends a lot on the specific track's traction settings. Have you tried adjusting your gearing? Short gearing might be hitting too hard and cause the front to lift.

Re: 450 setup help/question.
If you have your rider mass all the way forward then i think you need to adjust your forward, and vertical spring or else raise the back end of your bike with the shock preload. From what i think i know about setups, i would lower the fork preload (which should lower the front end) and then raise the shock preload (which should raise the back end).slowngreen wrote:That helps but Im mainly having trouble coming out of the berm with keeping the front end down. Can you take a screenshot of your setup you use right now? Maybe even your advanced set up as well, and i am sure you will get a lot more helpful feed back from someone who may be able to explain it better then me.

Re: 450 setup help/question.
Ok thanks guys, I'll mess with a few of those settings. I know theres been a ton of setup threads/posts but most are just throwing numbers up on a screen, not really explaining much and it can get pretty confusing for me on. Just wanting to get an idea of where to start for this problem as its easy to mess up a setup real quick I think.
