New model I'm working on. The entire swingarm, fork lower, and tripple clamps aren't mine. No normal maps yet. Any feedback on how it looks, as far as shading and shape of the model would be appreciated. Also if anyone has some advice for the lower part of the frame shading, that would be sick too. I'm assuming it's from have skinny rectangle quads to make that part up.

Height map. Black base with white ripples like jumps. (Tracks use these too)

Here is a gear stretchy pattern I made a while ago. It's shit but yolo. Open it in photoshop then save it as a pattern.

Make gradient
Make white layer
Add noise
Desaturate noise
Set layer to mulitply, adjust opacity

You could also just make lines that curve with the shape of the patch if you want it to look like real gear. Not sure what the whole gradient deal is about. If you're working with a skin at the kind of resolution we use in MXS, then the only way you're going to get even close to the look of the real stretchy material unless you use a 2 or 3 px stroked line.

This isn't my best disp ever, but I'm on my phone and it's what I had uploaded. Pretty clear example.

Seems the same. I just like the results of gradients better than softbrushes.
