Re: Whats your pc?
Hey guys, i got two questions!
1.) Ive been looking at these two motherboards, the asus z97a and the msi gaming 5. Is anyone familiar with which is better? I did some research and its always a tie from what ive seen but i could be wrong.
2.) Is it worth saving up the money for a 970 instead of getting a 960? Even tho im not going to be playing demanding games like battlefield.
Thanks guys!

Re: Whats your pc?
I have the MSI Gaming 5, I really like it, looks good, does what I want it to do, and I do like MSI. For the most quality stuff, I think it is which color you want, or do you want an extra port of that instead of the other one that the other has. Either way, you're going to be pleased with either.jason_pama wrote:1.) Ive been looking at these two motherboards, the asus z97a and the msi gaming 5. Is anyone familiar with which is better? When I but PC stuff, I like to see it as a "future insurance" a little bit. I did go the extra mile to pick up a i5 4690k earlier this spring, and I hopefully will be able to use it for 3-5 years to come, while I 1.5 years ago picked up a AMD FX4300 (which is a good low price midrange CPU IMO) that I ended up changing a year later. Next time I upgrade my GTX660, I'm gonna go with probably the x70 that is out then.jason_pama wrote:2.) Is it worth saving up the money for a 970 instead of getting a 960? Re: Whats your pc?
If you can afford it, go with the 970. You'll max every game on 1080p and will be more future proofed that way. You will also get 2GB extra ram. I also have a 970 and imo its awesome.jason_pama wrote: 2.) Is it worth saving up the money for a 970 instead of getting a 960? Even tho im not going to be playing demanding games like battlefield.

Re: Whats your pc?
Alright. I have saved $300 and my parents are giving me $500. Is there any good PC builds for $800 excluding just a monitor? I would use Sim, Outlast, PS, Blender, Microsoft Office.
For sim, I would like to run 80s and 90s on 128x128 with about 60-125 FPS on about a 20-30 man gate.
For Outlast, I would like to run high detail with about 60-70 FPS.
For PS, I want it to be fast and not lag
For Blender, I want to be able to do 1920x1080 renders at 500-800 samples in about 1-2 hours. (If that's possible)
Are there any good builds. Looking for: CPU, MoBo, Ram, Storage(NO SSD), Case, GPU, Power Supply, OS, Keyboard, Mouse.

Re: Whats your pc?
You can upgrade to Win10 for free if you have Win7 or Win8 whenever it comes out and its free. I assume your laptop has one of these on it and you might ditch it once you get your Desktop. If you aren't, drop the 960 4gb and i5 4690k, then get a 960 2gb and a i5 4460. May run you a couple of bucks over, but if you want to fool with rebates, you could get it cheaper.John23 wrote:Alright. I have saved $300 and my parents are giving me $500. My laptop came with it pre-installed. Is there a way I can move the OS from my laptop to a desktop?
