Just take a real life picture and make your rider look somewhat like that or get lessons of kyle i did both

Sometimes you can add edge loops in and can smooth out areas like the elbows and such if they bend awkward or create a sharp point. At least in 3DS Max I've had good luck adding geometry in with minimal consequences to distortion or messing up the UV map, not sure if Blender will like it or not. As long as you don't drastically change the shape it should work okay, 3DS Max has an awesome tool to add edge loops in depending on the flow of the polygons, I don't know if there is an equivalent tool or not for Blender.
