hello, i think it would be great, not to lost interest and to bring newest fun to the 19800 server of jlv, to make every year or whenever a little update of the tracks, like in real life, every year they change a bit some part of the track, make a new double, cut a line and build a new one, put a berm higher.... like this it make live the track with update, i think it could be nice? i dont know what you think, it s just an idea.

So you mean controller vibration support, not so much force feedback, because the only hardware I've seen that provides force feedback are some steering wheels

yeah well, controller vibration support, it would make a world of difference knowing if your in a rut

I haven't read all 100 pages of this thread, so I apologize if this idea has already been mentioned.

Someone was just talking about force feedback... why not develope a special handlebar controller for this game? With the technology of the Wii and/or the ps2 EyeToy, we could potentially play this game while holding a pair of handlebars and moving around. Eventually, it would be so cool to have an arcade-style motorcycle that you actually sit on and lean over. It would probably have to be better and more advanced than existing ones.

I heard also that the new MX vs ATV game coming out has technology where every particle of dirt is remembered and so ruts develop naturally and the track changes each lap depending on what the racers do.

I have toyed with handlebar setups for this game (using old mice). The problem is that the lean angle is not directly proportional to the input angle. So if I was riding IRL I would tip it in (using counter steer like the game does) and hold it at that angle around the bend and straighten up out of it. If you tried to do this with your controller, it would turn the front wheel (tipping it in) and continue to turn the front wheel until you straightened up, meaning you would just fall over. You would have to make small, unrealistic movements to get it to ride well.

You can set "Direct steering" to enable direct control, but this ruins the physics entirely.

Another idea I had was to use a dampened pivot on a joystick. When you initiate the lean the dampening means the joystick is moved a little, but as you hold it the stick return to its original position (having no more influence on the control) but your hands are still lent over like you are railing the turn. Then when you straighten up it moves the joystick a little to and your bars return to the normal position.
Hard to explain what I mean but basically mount a set of handlebars onto a joystick and have the base of the joystick mounted to a fixed base via a dampened pivot (it only needs the x-axis to be pivoted in this way). I'm not sure how effectively it would work as I don't have a joystick to experiment with. :(

Now you have some of the crazy thoughts from my mind. haha.

Second idea sounds pretty good. I even have my old bars from my ktm 50 :D. I don't have joystick either though :(.

I think it would probably be kinda cool to try out though, going through a rut feeling your chair vibrate as if it was your bike.
