Computer crashing

Post by 5hundred2stroke4life »

The new September snapshot seems to be crashing my game. I have turned the graphics down to half way and it still crashes. It only seems to happen when loading new levels when the server is filled, my computer says "Out of virtual memory" and down on the task bar it says Low on Virtual Memory. I've played many other games with more demanding requirements where my computer just met recommended specs and never runs out of memory. Anyone know how to fix this?

Computer specs
AMD 3700+
nVIDIA EVGA 6800GS
1GB of ram (Not 100% sure if its 1GB or 512mb)

i was having issues with the game crashing recently myself, it turned out to be an issue with the openGL GPU driver, so if you have an ATI card, i recommend trying rolling back your drivers

I looked at this more carefully and the game is leaking memory somewhere. Hopefully I'll have it tracked down soon.

I noticed the other day that even with nothing else open whatsoever, when I open mxsim and then look at task manager it shows that the game is using 100% computer usage. Also about the same time of the newest snapshot, I got a new monitor and saw a drop in fps. I figured the fps drop was due to the new monitor, but could these 2 things be a culprit of the game leaking memory?

I doubt it would lower your frame rate. It will mostly just waste space in your paging file. I've found the leak now and it will be fixed in the next snapshot.

Would this explain a crash every time I alt tab out of the game, and try to come back into it?

No. This is purely a virtual memory waster. It will be hard to notice until you run out of address space.

When i play more than 5 tracks, usually about the sixth track mine crashes due to an virtual memory error.

Does it do it with the new snapshot? As it was aimed at fixing that error
