Changes:
  • Terrain is now tessellated into 33x33 vertex chunks for vastly improved performance on modern GPUs.
  • Added --terrain-wireframe command line option and /toggleterrainwireframe command.
  • Background grid in gradient editor now expands to cover all gradient points instead of just being 100 feet tall.
  • Fixed front=0 not working in treadmark definitions.
Windows users: https://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mx-2024-03-30-1666.exe
Linux users: https://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mxbin-2024-03-30-1666

Replace mx.exe or mxbin with one of the above files. The default location for mx.exe should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\MX Simulator". Please note that the ".exe" extension is hidden in Windows so the file will just show as an application named "mx". I'd keep a backup of the originals since these aren't well tested.

Huge performance boost and the gradient background expanding is also really nice. Thank you!

As always, really appreciate the updates after ~15+ years. The only true mx sim. Hoping by 2030 we have real time shadows. 😂

It's just the color used for clearing the color buffer. I can change it if something else would be better.

Sorry I messed my wording up, i meant why does it go black now, i found it better when it was blue.

I can change it to back. Didn't think it mattered for anything but the gradient editor.

Yeah it was a lot better when it was blue. Would it be possible to make a setting where we can switch between black and blue (or other colors)? Also sorry to report but in regards to the bug we were discussing here: viewtopic.php?f=17&p=912051#p912051

I haven't been able replicate the crash but if I do I will send you a tilemap

I'll set it to blue. I don't think making it user settable is worth the bother.
