VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
MXSRank by Hugo was perfect and kept a lot of casual players playing the game. I had ton of fun playing with my friends in there. You should have given more love to the creator of that masterpiece, so we could still play it. Sadly, he shut it down several months ago. Haggvist, P2sta, Checkerz, Niko Mouk, Brad... and now Hugo is another example of a great community member gone because of the lack of game development.
We have been suggesting things for more than 10 years. MxBikes has already surpassed this game, and Motocross The Game is coming. The future is freezing cold for this game. Now it's gonna be hard for you, JLV, to bring interest again into the game unless you let people work with you.
I'm writing this in a 15-year-old forum look, we can't even buy the game on Steam, you don't even have social media channels/any kind of marketing plan, and so on. So many other things need to be sorted out before thinking that a Casual Track Of The Week Series can revive this game, if that's what you want.

Re: Casual track of the week series?
What Alex says, i've mentioned it before in a different topic aswell but you need to invest into this game with money not specific a 'track of the week'.
Without Kellen streaming the races anymore there will be a certain % not showing up anymore or not even making teampacks anymore.
you need to invest into content creators / racing organization to keep their riders. We all know how much time you need to put into this game to get somewat decent and the reward you get (last couple years) from racing organization is barely anything.
Might be an stupid idea from me but with rF failing admin wise lately i think jlv needs to step it up and get in touch with new people for a racing organization and pays either the crew (trackmakers/hosters/modelers/media) and let the riders pay entry fee and use that money for prizes or vice versa.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic
Why do people have to be so nasty? I'm sorry about the admittedly glacial pace of updates recently. I have a close family member that has been on her death bed for the last year and a half which has greatly reduced the time I have to update the game. Once she dies I'll have more time for updates. I'm sorry this process isn't going quickly enough for you.VUSTTOS wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 2:38 pm MXSRank by Hugo was perfect and kept a lot of casual players playing the game. Now I realize you had no way of knowing about that, but what is wrong with you dragging a "hey should we get together for some casual races" topic into you airing your petty grievances? If you like other games better go there. No need to harass people who like MXS.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic
I'm sorry to hear you've been going through a difficult family situation for the past year and a half — I didn't know. I really hope you are going through it as good as possible.
I wrote what people have been saying for years, not just in the past year and a half. I'm sorry if you interpreted or assumed it the wrong way. Sadly, it's the reality, and this game needs a big refresh to draw attention again. The content creators — track makers, race organizers, skin designers, bike modders, etc. — are the foundation of this game and the ones who have kept it alive all these years, but over time, they've all been leaving. You can see that nowadays there's barely any new activity.
JLV, you'll still be the GOAT. Even tho MXBikes and Motocross The Game are a big thing now, you were the first one. We all love you. Creating this video game back in 2007 was something unique and truly appreciated by many of us. You've defined an era and will always be remembered for that.
Please, I ask you to edit the title you gave this topic when moving the post from the "Casual track of the week series" topic. Looks like I created a new topic just to write that, and I don't want it to look like that. What I wrote was just my 2 cents on your idea of bringing new players to racing.
Again, thanks for all you've made GOAT, and hopefully, you find a way to keep the game alive. We don't want to see this game keep going downhill.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic
I want to Echo a little bit of what VUSTTOS is saying as I genuinely don't think it is coming from a place of hate. While I'm not very good at these games I would consider myself a hardcore moto gamer, I buy and play the living hell out of every Mx vs ATV game including all of the respective DLC and sometimes even across multiple or even all platforms. I bought Mx Bikes in 2017 when it was still a little bit unpopular but was starting to come around, the LCQ Studios game when it had it's early access launch and realistically I will be buying Motocross the game. For me no matter how much glam and glitz Bikes or MvA has, neither of them will be able to replace MX Simulator. The game does far to many things better than the competition to be stuck in time like it is though, I know I sound like a parrot but I think it's time to get more people on board helping. I've already bought this game twice, but if adding devs to improve what you have, adding features or even a complete overhaul means tossing more money your way I and many others would be more than will to do so, I can say with 100% confidence I've gotten more than 43 bucks of enjoyment out of this game. You know what fuck it, if it means I have to learn how to code I would absolutely do it.
Not really sure where to go with this rant at this point, I think I had a point when I started typing this out but whatever it is just kind of left me for some reason... This past year has been absolutely horrible for me, but through the physical anguish, mental rock bottoms and seemingly unending bad news for my health Sim has been here for me more than most of my friends have, it's given me an opportunity to express myself creatively with my tracks and while they aren't the most popular (or even liked whatsoever in some cases) it's a process I enjoy above all else and has kept me distracted. Understand this, no matter where you go from here I won't stop building tracks, participating in races and supporting this amazing game. My appreciation for you and the game you have built could never be expressed through words alone and I will never downplay how much work you have put in to get to where you are but I think it's time to take this foundation you've built and REALLY start pushing it to it's limits. At this point I don't know what the future holds but I know Mx Simulator is going to fill most of mine and I more than anything want to see you continue to succeed.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic
We all in piece and in love for the game here.
But i dont think mxs would excist much longer if it just continues like this,
i think 90% of the com is here for the racing aspect and that is slowely coming to an end
Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
It'll definitely continue to exist. It might shrink or grow as time goes on but I'm not going to pull the plug on any servers.
I do plan on outsourcing more in the future but not so much that it becomes a real company that has to hit sales targets to keep the lights on.

Some people move on to the next big thing some like the game they have been playing for years. Who cares. Thank you JLV for keeping the game alive for the core fans who are gonna stick around no matter what!
Like Seth said for some nothing can replace MX Simulator.

i get that, but i think just having kellen to stream the races is the biggest marketing you can get for mxs.jlv wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 2:53 amIt'll definitely continue to exist. It might shrink or grow as time goes on but I'm not going to pull the plug on any servers.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
It definitely is. But as far as not existing, MXS is completely in the black and can basically go on forever. If you go in the red borrowing money to go big you can do great things, but if the sales numbers aren't big as well your creditors are going to shut you down.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
i get that, MXS will never completely die cuz you will always keep your diehard players, im one of them but im just saying that without kellen streaming anymore there will be certain amount of people not showing up or caring as much anymore and i think it will motivate rF crew less aswell. i dont wanna/need to know how much sales mxs makes nowadays but i think in the past it has made a decent amount to put something back into a solid racing organization or am i saying something stupid?jlv wrote: ↑Fri May 16, 2025 2:07 am It definitely is. Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
I don’t think Hugo is a good example of a “great” community member. He sold mods that altered the functionality of the game or hacked into the game files to change things. Not to mention once he was done with MXS, he just shut his licensing servers off so his mods just don’t work at all anymore, even though there’s legitimately no reason for them to not be able to work other than he shut the licenses down. MXSRank was solid, but his camera tools and gate timer just stopping randomly and people being out the money they paid for it is not a good business practice and kind of shitty for a creator. At least most of the other creators left behind things the game can still use later on.
Checkerz is still around in here, just not creating. Just saw him take down a track from a guy that used some of his decades old terrain the other day.

The fact that someone went out of their way to make the game better in some aspects says enough. The 3rd person camera was a great mod and the gate timer mod was cool too. Sure it sucks that people may have "lost" money after he shut the licensing down but it's not like people haven't lost money in sim from buying models/content and then it gets released publicly for free or their stuff gets ripped and then released.. This still continues to happen almost daily.DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 6:41 pmI don’t think Hugo is a good example of a “great” community member. Maybe Hugo wouldn't have had to "hack" or alter the game files if we actually had some development taking place within the game.
At this point why not allow for some 3rd party mods to be created considering JLV's time constraints? It would allow people to have the things we have been asking for and wanting that has been completely ignored or overlooked for over a decade..

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
I didn't say the mods weren't cool, but they modified the game in unnatural ways compared to JLVs programming. I actually think the gate timer is really impressive and wouldn't mind it being implemented. Definitely sounds like something that can happen with UI scripting. But that's the thing. It's not being implemented through the proper channels. And if JLV isn't implementing it, it just means there is a way to alter the way the game does things. Which leads to people with malicious intent hacking the game for their benefit. Not saying Hugo would do that, but it proves that it would be possible for others, so JLV has to obfuscate the code to make it harder for people to do it.Zooted wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 9:39 pm The fact that someone went out of their way to make the game better in some aspects says enough. The model thing is not at all comparable. If you pay for a model and it gets released for free later on, you still had exclusive access to it beforehand and get to keep using it. It didn't stop randomly.
Again, that's just a cop out. If you're not happy with the development of a game, you suggest something and move on. Don't hack it, even if it is QOL.Zooted wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 9:39 pm Maybe Hugo wouldn't have had to "hack" or alter the game files if we actually had some development taking place within the game.

I think what most of you fail to realize is that this has been a side project for JLV. He has a full time job and other responsibilities outside of MX Simulator. He opens it up for more development if and when he deems it to be appropriate. If he hires another developer to come on board and start making things for the game, he has to pay them. Once he has an employee, it's no longer a side project and his profits from the game that he uses on server/development costs have to go to a salary for someone to develop the things that he needs done. Unless they work for free/very little, it's not a financially smart move to hire a developer on such a small title. Last I estimated, there have only been about 60-65k copies sold. There are some indie games that sell more than that in a day on Steam.
Be patient with the guy that honestly doesn't have to update the game at all. He could drop it tomorrow with no explanation and not update it anymore.

Re: VUSTTOS' Grievance Topic (renamed/split from Casual track of the week series)
People have been making cheats for this game for over 10 years so that's nothing new and I know for a fact that there are cheats right now flying underneath JLV's radar with nothing being done about it.DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:28 pmIt's not being implemented through the proper channels. You can say that but at the end of the day if Hugo wants to close the doors on what he's doing and no longer allows the service to work that's his decision. Steam could easily do the same thing, just because you purchased those games on steam doesn't mean you actually own them.. you're essentially paying a subscription for the rights to install and play the games. If steam closed it's doors, you don't have access to those games anymore, and If a game is purchased on the steam store and then steam decides to take it off of the store, you don't get a refund for said game.DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:28 pmThe model thing is not at all comparable. With that being said I don't think it makes Hugo a bad guy just because he decided not to continue on with a service that he was providing, but that's just my opinion.
There are people within this community that know coding/scripting/programming that would *probably* work alongside JLV for free if given the chance. My question is, has JLV ever asked anyone for such a thing?DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:28 pm If he hires another developer to come on board and start making things for the game, he has to pay them. Because he refuses to market the game.DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:28 pmLast I estimated, there have only been about 60-65k copies sold. There are some indie games that sell more than that in a day on Steam.
Brother we have been patient for over 10 years, eventually the patience wears thin. Truth be told if he dropped the game tomorrow, the game would probably progress further and faster than when he had control over it due to the influx of modding that would happen.DBRider251 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:28 pm Be patient with the guy that honestly doesn't have to update the game at all.
