Ok now for the new demo naming idea to help me keep track of whos who.

When you send me your demo i give it a number so when i splice it i dont have to type in the whole demo name i just type a number. Sounds good right? Well it works great untill someone forgets a racing number or someone sets the wrong laps or something else and i dont know what demo it is thats messing up. So now i have assigned every one a number and this is what you need to name your demo. This way if Rider sets his laps to 10 and the race is supposed to be 8 i can go hmm Rider is demo number 1 find his demo open it up edit it and then the problem is fixed.

So please, just rename your demo with the correct number before you upload it.

umm what? i didnt get a piece of that besides rider did his race 10 laps instead of 8

can you show what you mean? Like do you want us to just put our # or put our name like we used to with the # at the end?

you still use your number.... just rename your mxdemo file with the number I assigned. You still run your number on the bike just rename your demo with the one I assigned.

Just use the bike number. :/


So, I name my demo 336.mxdemo, DJ names his 4.mxdemo, 250.mxdemo, etc.


Instead of me doing 31.mxdemo. :/ And if you see something fucked with a demo in game, look at the numberplate. :/

I mean, we did make number registrations for a reason, why not use them?

I made thst message from my phone here is a better discription step by step.

Old Way
--You race your race with your normal registered number.
--you name your demo example: frederick_smithtown_classA_#11.mxdemo and uplaod it
--I download everyones demo and place in a folder sorted by A class B class and C class
--Then i rename each demo 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ect so when i splice i dont have to type out the original demo name such as frederick.smithtown.A.#11.mxdemo instead i just use the same script for every splice just adjust the number of demos it splices.
--Then i watch the spliced demo and make sure all is well. But in the qualifier all was not well, one person didnt set the correct laps, 2 people didnt set numbers. I had to hunt and pick through every demo to find the demo's that were messed up and it was a pain in the ass.

New Way

IF this new system would have been inplace i would have been able to see hmm number 11 set to many laps, then i look on the forum, see that number 11's demo is demo 11 i open his demo up change the amount of laps and resplice. I could do this to the spliced demo file also but sometimes when its being saved it corrupts some parts so its better to just resplice the files.

I hope this clears it up, thanks to Frederick for being an example :P hope you dont mind.

No, I understand all of that. I mean, why not use your bike numbers instead of another one?


That way it's easier to still recognize the rider whose demo it is instead of looking it up.

So, rewrew, are you saying there is a way to save a set command like python c:\python26\demosplice.py --sync c:\demo1.mxdemo(however many numbers you want)...c:\demofinal.mxdemo? If so, could you PM me a little tutorial, or show me where to find it?

I think that Voutare has a pretty good point. If you could(i dont know yet) save a splice "code" with all of our numbers, it would eliminate the step of searching the forum for who is supposed to be demo 11. it would take longer the first time, but save time in the future. But i am going to name it what ever you want me to name it, because i realize you dont HAVE to do this.

I'm saying, instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, use their ACTUAL bike number. So mine is 336.mxdemo. Rgaede is 333.mxdemo DJ is 4.mxdemo. Fred is 11.mxdemo. Puma is 10.mxdemo. Mittocs is 721.mxdemo.
