It was on other tracks before, just happened to be on it again when you joined. A marshall has to be on to change the tracks.

If that is the case, then about 10 TRUSTED people need to be allowed to change the track(s).yzmxer608 wrote:A marshall has to be on to change the tracks.

Why not set it to random? Because every time I have gotten on today, and yesterday (6 times or so) it was on Millville. And those were spaced out all through the afternoon too...

Not sure why it's 2 laps and set to one track either. I'm sick of Millville and want to play online on the other tracks.

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
It's a bit of a pain when the track changes during an organized race so that server is set for a very long track change interval. I could set it for a short interval for the competition tracks, but then it would just cycle through them once and stick on the first race series track on the server. I guess what I need is a way to put more than one rotation on one server. Maybe a --nextrack option that tells it which track to jump to next.

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
yeah, it ll be great to be able to choose which track could be next! how many time people are leaving the online cause nobody like the track getting out ! to be able to put an option to choose the next track will bring a lot more people online! i think so...?

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
a voting system like you see often in counter-strike would be cool. give people 3 tracks to choose from and the one with the highest votes wins. would prevent the same 2 tracks being ridden all the time, but give people a choice in the matter at the same time.

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
That has been suggested to me a few times. People also suggested that the tracks should not have been released at once. I thought that was a bad idea, seeing as some tracks probably wouldnt get released for weeks.
I guess we can give that idea a go though. Each day, we hold an online session, ride three of the tracks, then come back an vote which is the best. Depending on their placings, the tracks then go into a top 3, middle three, and bottom three round. That way all the tracks are ordered. But the ordering probably wont be completely correct. Thats why I think just your usual scoring system would be the way to go.
I was thinking of what way to weight scoring. This is what I think.
10 points for disp/fun factor.
5 points for looks.
I'd get everyone to post their scores for each track into a single thread. That way, I can monitor who is voting (no second accounts), and pick out negatively biased votes (there are tracks that obviously have a score of 4-5 for looks. If someone gives it a 1, its obviously biased).
I'd get some sort of polling software, but thats effort.

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
I meant it in a different way
I meant online in general, since jlv was talking about it. at the end of a race give people 3 choice for tracks and let them vote, the track that wins the vote will be the next track in line.
the points scoring you mentioned is fine, but would everyone have to give points like that for each track?
that could be a lot of wok and I'm not sure everyone will take the time to ride every track and fairly judge it.
wouldn't a poll be better? everyone voting for their favorite?

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
If people have enough time to come on here and DL the entire track file and ride all the tracks then they better not act like they dont have the time to give two honest numbers for each track for a vote. Would probably take a couple minutes to do

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
The way I'd do voting is to just pick top 3.
Because with the last comp, you notice every single track had votes of 2 or 1, along with 9 and 10. It's just not reliable. You can't be biased if you pick top 3. And even if you are, it's a user created track, so in a way, you should reflect on your track.
If DJ's always an asshole to me, I won't vote for his track. I don't think that's unreasonable.
Just tally up the top three, giving one point for each position (so in a sense, they are all equal), and add them up. Or you can weigh them, 3 points for 1st 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd. But that may skew the data.
(I also would suggest against public rankings of each track, because some people may not want to vote tracks down because they feel bad... may sound dumb, but it's true.)
