doesn't the helmet go into the brace in the 2nd pic?

Yeah it is but you cant really fix that. If you would place it higher the neck would look awful long.
I think it's on other helmets aswell.

In this, you see that I was in line with the pack while Justin was in line with the bales. We obviously collided.

Here, you can see that tyskorn cut in early. We collided.

Proof that i was braking.
