controller help

I just bought a new wired xbox 360 controller for mx sim and i can ride with it but it isnt smooth like on everyone elses it is jumpy just like the keyboard. It wont let me go half speed its either flooring it or not and i dont know how to fix that. Its the same with turning jumpy not smooth. please help
