[DEMO] Multiplayer Issues

Post by Netzeek »

Howdy.

Recently, I've been having multiplayer issues on the demo version of the game. For one, I am unable to ready up which I understand is supposed to happen automatically. Me and my friend request a reset and the message "Waiting on #" comes up and never alters. Secondly, either I can't see my friend in the game or he can't see me despite us both being connected. We try to resolve this with a reset but to no success as I can't even ready up, so alternatively I reconnect and we're back to square one: we can't see each other. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I'm becoming extremely frustrated with this issue.

Thanks,
Netzeek.

The only players that show are the ones who were there at the start of the race. On the next restart you should both be in.

I understand that concept, although it's impossible for us to be together as I can't ready up. No matter what I do, it always says "Waiting on (input my number here)". This means that if I reconnect due to not being able to ready up, my friend will be in the race and he will be unable to see me because I'm not registered as being a participant of that race. Any idea why I can't ready up?

Your client will automatically tell the server it's ready once the track loads. If you have a lot of packet loss it might have to resend the message a few times for it to get through.

I've literally waited for an hour to two for this thing to ready up yet I have not prevailed in my seemingly impossible task. Are you sure there isn't a simple and potentially logical fix? I've tried reinstalling the game and deleting old cache folders and nothing has proved a genuine fix. I just want to be able to ready up without these unnecessary problems and I'm sure there's a chance of this being an easy fix.

I looked through the server log to see what's happening, and it looks like you reconnect so often you never get in. I did find at least one instance where you got in but you were the only one online at the time. Most of the time you reconnect several times and miss the restart.

Yes, predominantly because I have to otherwise I'll keep the other guys who want to race waiting all month. The server does not register me and does not automate the readying up process, so could you look into fixing this error? Either modify my online player file(s) or just implement a feature where you can manually ready up. To explain why I always reconnect in more depth, I do this because otherwise everyone would be waiting for me as when I am unable to ready up, the server does not start the race. Additionally, I can only type one message when I'm online. When I try to type something else, the message does not go through. This whole issue is very foreign to me and I have no understanding or knowledge of why it's happening. I've done a few searches yet found nothing, so I'm very dependant on your help at the moment.

From the server log it looks like you got some races in today. My best guess would be you were getting a lot of packet loss before.

Yeah, I'm using a VPN. I decided to try it out experimentally and the result was it was something to do with my internet. What ports I need to forward so this doesn't occur on my genuine connection?
