2DMX: 2D Sim MX Game for Desktop and Android
Re: 2DMX: 2D Sim MX Game for Desktop and Android
interesting, but definitely really hard to control, not sure it's the way to go, since as you said it was created for sideview
Re: 2DMX: 2D Sim MX Game for Desktop and Android

It seems extremely, as p2sta said,
Can you add a fender and/or handlebars?
And for the single side grass, could you code it to copy and rotate it 180 degrees when in first person?
Other than the warped view, it actually isn't that bad.
Keep in mind, if I seem arrogant on what I'm about to say, I have never messed with java or coded anything, so sorry if anything seems bad.p2sta wrote:interesting, but definitely really hard to control, not sure it's the way to go, since as you said it was created for sideview

As I said, this is a proof of concept. It took me about 20 minutes to get this working in first person mode. I was just showing to see if anyone would actually like playing a 2D game in first person. I know how to make it look good in first person mode but that will take time and I haven't taken that time yet.motoxlova#1 wrote:It seems extremely, as p2sta said,Keep in mind, if I seem arrogant on what I'm about to say, I have never messed with java or coded anything, so sorry if anything seems bad.p2sta wrote:interesting, but definitely really hard to control, not sure it's the way to go, since as you said it was created for sideview

Well i think it can be awesome, if this is a 20 min work with a bit of more time it will look amazing.

Ok this is going to be a release candidate. Mace, somehow the rider got a kung fu grip, I reduced the break force on his hand and I think its working a lot better. I also made the rider move a about twice as fast. Let me know what you think.

-Start area with random drop gate and start board
-Finish line banner (thanks haggqvist)
-Changed scale of world to be more accurate
-Race setup screen (practice/race/set laps)
-Post race screens (View your laptimes)
-Added pause and restart buttons
-Added practice start with a handle in editor (this should be placed just before the finish line so that fastlaps can be started quickly)
-Tweaked rider position
-Tweaked suspension
-Improved physics
-Performance impovements
-Many bug fixes
-Ads in race and editor(sorry)

Re: 2DMX: 2D Sim MX Game for Desktop and Android
nice one,
I like the handling more now
anyway one thing i think should change...well the rider has too short arms atm, or at least it looks so. also in the neutral position, his is leaned to forward (his head is over the bars)

Thanks for the input. The rider is positioned that way to keep the front end down. Think I have a way to make the arms look better and keep the rider in the same position. I'll try that out in a later update.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Damn, where was I for a few days?
The 1st person view has a lot of potential I think. The only major concern I see is that it is hard to know where you are in the track because of a lack of visual cues. It is tons of fun though.
The suspension/body position updates are amazing, you can now skim whoops really well and the landings feel more natural.
To answer a physics question from before, yeah earth is 9.8 m/s^2.
Wakestyle, I sent you a PM about my new track.

How do I get a controller to work? It's probably somewhere in this thread but 31 pages is just too much.
