Why does science always have to conflict with religion? They're two separate things.

Just think of all the cool shit we could have had by now if that wasn't the case. We would probably be ripping around on zero emission (sound and chemical) hoverbikes that didn't give half a shit about braking or acceleration bumps. Hell, they wouldn't even need a groomed track. No more of your dirt running off when it rains and the tree huggers would be happy. Flying cars, time machines, the possibilities are endless.

I'm thinking wrong kind of science dude. Religious people don't care if we have flying cars and other technological consumer shit. They just care about the science and technology related to "theories on the origin of life" as DJ said.

The stuff that pisses me off about religion is when they say "It's all in God's will."

All I know is that when we find life or evidence of previous life forms, the answer will be "It's God's creation." There's evangelical science that teaches arguments to science, such as..."carbon dating is flawed because of 'the Great Fire' that covered the earth and changed all of the carbon traces etc. I think religion is good for some people to have guidelines to live by, but, not to be foisted on the masses or shoved down your throat like the Spanish inquisition or Taliban rule. Too many people can't just live and let live. Seeing someone different than you as a threat is the main problem.

What bothers me is that people generalize that there's a science vs. religion war. I can understand that there is a debate when it comes to the origin of life, but it's kind of irrelevant when there isn't enough support on either side of the origin of life. To believe in a religious explanation of life is just as blind as to believe in a scientific explanation. Ya dig?
