I think I remember reading that he overshot something 4th tapped. It wasn't his frame that snapped, it was his tripple clamps. They were ride industries tripple clamps for reference.
Where the frame broke is not a weldment or a region with a stress concentration. It would definitely snap at the head tube before it snapped in the middle of the frame. The Al would most likely not be a clean break either.
That's a 4 stroke frame so they would have had to cut and re-weld part of the downtube to fit the cr500 engine/pipe in it right? The downtube probably snapped first causing the main frame tubes to snap.

That happened to me aswell. I didnt case anything bad though, I just rode and the thing snapped. Back then (07) it was a manufacturing error. Honda payed for it, but still sucked having to dnf that race because of it. Looks like they didnt strengthen it enough for the fast kids
