You guys know what else is ugly? An Adams apple that's smashed in from a steering damper, or maybe a few broken bones because your behind-the-plate steering damper sucks.
I have a steering damper on my bars and a bar pad too I'm not at home so I cant get any good pictures of it but you can just about see the red bar clamps which are part of the steering damper. Admittedly it does raise the bar height a bit but being 6'2 that isnt really a hindrance for me. If the track starts to get much rougher I can reach down mid race and change the setting, I'd like to see you do that
My dad's bike has a steering damper on the bars, but he never runs the barpad for some reason.
I guess it's just personal preference, but I think it looks super factory on the front fender. Plus, you don't have to worry about adjusting to the new height of the bars.

Yeh I was just winding you up, it doesnt look that bad
Out of interest though, have you ever actually seen someone crush their adams apple from hitting their steering damper? It's not something I'd ever really thought about until you mentioned it.
Definitely happens. A guy cooked his eye socket off the bar clamps in practice and smashed his skull, through the front of his helmet. It was pretty bad, I think he ended up with an infection in his brain from the bone fragments. I'd never run without a bar pad after what happened to that guy. I can't believe you can still buy bikes with out them.

I run a it with Pro taper bars. They make a clamp that goes over the bars. Way better in my opinion!
