Has anyone tried erode with this update? I am sure Josh is still finalizing any issues but it is lagging bad when on the ground. Love the update Josh its changed the image of this game to me and all the work you do is much appreciated.

Dunno, I can't see it getting better. Recalculating the world normals seems like it might be more intensive than just recalculating the ground shading texture. Although, he did put a lot of work into erode, so it seems odd that he would go through all that trouble if he knew it wouldn't run well with the ground shaders.

It's still a useful tool for track development though, with the shaders turned off.

I agree, I'm looking forward to what he has to say.

I'd have to double check to be sure but I think it's doing more work than it has to right now. Still has to update 3 times as many textures though.

How come it would have to update the spec and colour maps?

That seals it, it's definitely doing too much work! Internally it only tracks valid/invalid and redoes all the maps for the invalid areas. But you're right, the color and spec maps don't need updates if the decals don't change.

Nice seems you have it figured out so is it a pretty easy fix or something a bit more complicated?

It's not something I can do in five minutes if that's what you mean.
