yeh i platy mcm2 some times and it repeats the same sound like 3 times sometimes lolCrazyCanadianMX wrote:The problem is All of MXSim's bike noises are based off of your input and the strain it is under. Speed, RPM, how much throttle you're giving it, the bike sounds all have to match up with that. It isnt like other motocross games where they just record sound bites of slow acceleration, fast acceleration, etc., and just set it on a loop when you're pinned. This is way more complex than that.
When should jlv release 450's?

Bringing back the dead here. When you say weight distribution do you just mean how much weight is on either wheel? So does this mean you don't actually use the geometry of these bikes?jlv wrote:The weight distribution numbers I use are from an old Dirt Rider article. The bikes were a yz125, crf250, kx250 and crf450.
Trying to figure out why the 450's feel better in every way possible over the 250 two-strokes... It's a chore to ride these bikes, which doesn't make it any fun. No one rides these bikes for a reason, maybe someday I'll be able to figure out how to solve the problem behind that reason

They handle fine to me...

BECAUSE YOU'RE A WIZARD HARRY.

Same geometry. The wheels, lower fork, upper fork/clamps/bars, swingarm and frame/motor have correct masses for their class.yzmxer608 wrote:Bringing back the dead here. Ok, thanks jlv.
Just rode it on Unadilla and it felt better. Must just not be a very good SX bike. Hopefully I can reunite with my love once again during nationals.

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
Maybe it's the power. I find the 350 handles better than the 450s even though they both have the exact same weight distribution. The short powerband on the 250 2T might make it handle differently because you have to do so many gear changes

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
I find that they respond radically different to the track than any other bike in this game, which sadly keeps me from using them as well. As most who know me can attest, I'm absolutely in love with 250 smokers IRL. Bums me out that I can't enjoy one in this game due to their issues. If they handled similarly to the 125's in game, as they do IRL, they'd be all I rode! Can you look into making them much more realistic in that way JLV?

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
I keep feeling a similar thing DJ, that the 125's powerband is broader than the 250's..
Either that or the 250 just has so much power, and my controller so imprecise throttle control, that it just jumps straight to 10k.
You really don't get this?

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
I thought it was more a handling problem that they were complaining about. That could be attributed to the power though. The lighter weight on the front wheel with aggressive power might be making the front end not stick properly. I've felt this in real life, I rode a 350 EXC-F back to back with the 250 EXC, and for the first couple of corners, I kept feeling the front knife a bit. It took me a while to get used to how light the front felt.
As for the 125 feeling broader, 2-strokes always lose a ton of power after their tuned RPM range. Outside of their tuned RPM range, lower RPM torque tends to be better than higher RPM (I assume 2-strokes get massive pressure drops at high gas flow, expansion chambers dont seem to be the flow-efficient designs). 250 2-strokes are tuned for mid RPM usage, whilst 125's are tuned for high RPM usage. I'm just waffling now so I'll stop

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
Yeah I totally agree, 125s are high strung top-end screamers.
That's why it bewilders me as to why the 125 is such a broader powerband thats so much more easily controllable, when really it should be a razor sharp powerband, about the same as the feeling I get on a 250 2 stroke in game.
I own an RM 250, 1994 model, so nearly vintage by now, but still goes hard when you crank the throttle, but I don't ride MX, I ride offroad, and it's not an on-off lightswitch powerband, I have plenty of usable power in the midrange, using just the first hit of the powerband to loft the front over bumps etc.
I just keep feeling the 125 power curve should be swapped with the 250... The 250 seems to be an all-or-nothing powerband while the 125 is so easy to keep in the meat of the power and not rev out too hard and therefore lose power. Either it's that or I need to get a better controller

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
One more waffle...

The way I deal with a bike that has too much power for me in real life is to ride a gear high. I did that on the RM when I first rode it, as the only other bikes I had ridden were my crappy pitbike and an XR400.
Trying to do that in this game, instead of the bike bogging down as you hit the throttle, the bike just wheelies / breaks traction.
Is that just a problem with how the game handles higher gears? Because it's one of the things that breaks the realistic feel a bit for me, like the slow speed handling.

Re: When should jlv release 450's?
I don't find the 250s too aggressive at all. I never really spin out or wheelie as much as I do on the 450f.
I think a lot of it comes down to the traction model. We're just pulling numbers out of thin air really
