Welcome to the 2013 MX Simulator Washougal Road Trip Page!
Background:
Hi there MX Sim community! Vurbmoto's Kellen Brauer here to talk about a fast approaching week of total badassness where a couple of my good buddies that I've had the privilege to get to know simply through playing this awesome game will embark on a lengthy 6-day road trip, logging more than 2000 miles in my truck and most importantly going to the 8th round of the Nationals at Washougal. Now why I decided to make a forum post about this is because I will also be writing a little blog about this journey which will go up on Vurbmoto in the days following my return home. So here's the game plan...
It all started a couple months back when experienced MX photographer Todd Gutierrez and I were chatting in Team Speak one day and he explained that he was unsure on whether he wanted to make the journey from his home in the northern California town of Oakdale to the Washougal National to shoot photos. I told him that I personally had never been to Washougal but really wanted to go someday and through some talking it was decided that I would drive from my house in San Diego, California to meet up with Todd and we'd both spend a little less money to do so by splitting the cost. It wasn't long before some of our other friends in TS jumped on board and Race Factory Gaming President Charles Sweeney was also interested in joining us as we could pick him up when we passed Sacramento. Sweeney had always been good friends with Daniel Markham and seeing that Markham has the summer off from his job he was also game. Chico State student and MXS Nationals points leader Zack Dupuis also caught wind and was excited about the possibility of going but quickly realized that his girlfriend's birthday happens to land right on the same weekend of Washougal. No matter, through some convincing Zack also joined on for the trip and it looked like we were pretty set as I would meet up with Markham and Todd in Manteca and drive to Sacramento to get Sweeney and Zack before heading to Portland, Oregon, for 3 days just 15 minutes from Washougal.
Things changed though as Sweeney landed himself a job meaning he was out. Now it really gets crazy as our good friend and Wisconsin native (yes WISCONSIN) Nathan Zaworski muttered that he'd love to go if he could. Well we certainly convinced him that it would be worth it and he requested 8 days off of work and got the approval to fly over for the journey. But Nate isn't just going to fly into Portland and have us meet him there. No, Nate will actually be flying in to San Diego the day before I leave to get the full experience and join in on all of the laughs we'll have along the 18 hour drive North. So Nate booked his plane ticket, we booked our hotel in Portland and we're ready to go. Toss in that I'll be at Washougal with a media pass for Vurbmoto and Todd will be shooting from the sidelines with a vest for Moto X Addicts and now we have an awesome trip planned!
Nate will fly in Tuesday, the 16th of July to San Diego International Airport where I'll pick him up and head back to my house for the night to start of the Week of Washougal with none other than a race... on Washougal. I'll race my 250 Motos then Nate and I will co-host the livestream of the 450s with maybe a little webcam action lol. You won't want to miss Tuesday's livesteam is what I'm trying to say here. Wednesday morning Nate and I will embark for roughly 8 hours north to Markham's house in Manteca where we will meet up with Todd and stay a night. Thursday we will pick up Zack in Davis, CA, early in the morning just outside of Sacramento and then go another 10 hours through Oregon and just into Washington to our hotel. Three days there including the National before leaving on Sunday to head back to Markham's for a night to drop off Zack and Todd and then driving back the following day or maybe the next depending on sleep deprivation to get back by the following Tuesday night where Nate will again join me in booth for Millville. Nate will end the journey by flying out on Wednesday morning the 24th and returning the Wisconsin to eat some cheese.
Phew... enough fun? I certainly think so! So although this will be a post road trip blog I want to be interactive with it and since it's a journey consisting of people that all met via MX Sim we want you guys to keep up to date with us and we'll provide the best story we can! So check all of the info below and thanks for reading!!

I'm definitely looking forward to this trip and I'll be sure to write a smashing blog to detail how hungover Markham is on consecutive days, how much Nate will hate In N Out after being here, how much Mexican food Todd will make us, how deep in the doghouse Zack ends up for missing his girlfriends Birthday, or how empty my (or all of our) wallet will be after the dust settles. Thanks for reading and see you guys for Washougal!!!
