See I really liked the way the 2010-2013 CRF250R's handle in comparison to my 2008 CRF250R. My two stroke handles better than my 2008 CRF did, and in my opinion better than the 2010-2013 CRF250R's, if you can get used to riding a two stroke fast. They really are way different than four strokes. Some would say that's obvious and I would agree, I just didn't think the powerband with a two stroke would be SO much more powerful in comparison to a 250F. No, I'm not a goon either, before some make accusations, 15 years riding on my 20th birthday last month .

Yesterday, I went riding for the first time in months (this phrase seems pretty common for myself these days ). It was my Dad and I on my 250f but the track owner and my Dad are good friends so he let him ride a bike from the show room (he is a KTM dealer, why?!) but he let him ride a 200XC-W (for moto, lol) and he was firm he was no longer a 2-stroke rider. Since I went through the phase of wanting a KX250 I saw this as a good opportunity to try a two-stroke (hadn't rode one since 65's and I don't think PW50 or 65 count). I loved the motor, for a 200 that thing was mean as hell but screw everything else on that bike. The frame was shorter in height and width for tighter turns in woods but on moto its by far the most awkward thing, no wonder Herlings wrecked himself on an 85. Then the lever placement and bar angle were so screwed, especially the foot levers, holly hell I missed the rear brake so many times and about killed myself so many times and when I did find it but it was awkward or I was stomped to hard I knew I couldn't do anything but ride it out because if I moved my foot I was afraid I'd miss the lever again. However, despite all of KTM's downfalls I really enjoyed the motor once I figured out how to ride it as far as gears and throttle go. Back on the look for a 250, and after RacerX's and Matthes Project 90 I'm really keen to save one from the depths of hillbilly hell and fix it. Since everything that irked me about my test ride was bike related I feel like if I can find one that was made with some sense then it won't be as bad. I've already found an 03 for about $1100 that 3hr away which kind of fits the bill so maybe.

Pumaxcs would know better than I do.
My first 200 originally had a cylinder from an off road version and it was super bad for MX because it had no top end, but the 200SX is a great motor that bridges the 125 and 250 pretty nicely.

I did find it rode better once I started riding it in low range RPM's and not topped like 125/250f and once I figured that out it hooked up something fierce. It could be because of the throttle response and weight difference but out of the corners I kept having the front float up on me and I've never had that problem on my 250f. I would hate to race the 200 but as far as having fun on a field turn track I had quite abit of fun just sliding around (and that noise, uuuuhhhhhhhh).

Once we tracked down SX parts, it was more like a 125 that was easier to lug, but the XC motor wasn't great. If you could find a cheap blown up 125 or 144, you could build one out of that because the cases are all the same, but you're probably too much of a faggot to ever own a KTM again.
